Re: Boy in heels

You high-heel-wearing men are being historically correct: high heels were originally worn by both sexes, in order to indicate higher status in society, at least in Great Britain and Europe. Even as recently as the 1840s it was very fashionable for men to wear high heels. Today we have things like co...

Re: Women Speak Up

yeah, no offense, I've seen some of these photos and a lot of the ideas of what looks good are very shaky at best. Also, among my friends, guys can not tell if one guy is better looking than another. Gals will all think that one guy is by far the best looking, but to us guys, its a toss up. but, we...

Re: Do fashion designers matter?

Agreed, the lot of you! And to add my two cents' worth, I'm not certain whether fashion designers influence women's clothing purchases... but availability of clothing surely does. When you want a mini-skirt and the season's skirts are all long, it's dashed hard to find a mini-skirt because the store...

Re: Pants-skirt

I've seen this fashion on teenage girls this past fall and winter. I believe people should wear what they please, but I admit that for my personal taste, the look of a skirt worn over pants says either, "I don't know how to dress myself!" or, "I can't make up my mind!" Cheers, In...

Re: San Francisco Pride 2009

Well, of course there will be Guinness! And gin and tonic, and Strongbow, and Innes & Gunn, which to me is as ambrosial as Guinness is to some of you guys, because I want to be there as well, so I can hang out with all you sensibly-dressed gentlemen and admire your legs. :-D And maybe you could ...

Re: San Francisco Pride 2009

I'm having a fine vision of all the SkirtCafe members going for a night on the town. The pub is invaded by men in skirts and kilts (and several admiring women), some drinking alcohol and some not, some arguing contentiously and some not, ;-) and all having a blast. Passers-by will want to come and j...

Re: Diagnosis!

Rather than a bag of yeyo, I prefer a gin & tonic, lots of ice (Solid H2O). Amen, sister. Gin and tonic is a wonderful cure for heat stroke, especially with lots of ice, and a segment of lime. I'm glad Yeyo is doing well... and glad you're doing better, too. A good doctor is a pearl beyond pric...

Re: San Francisco Pride 2009

Hi Inertia, No they did not. I was discharged without a diagnosis. Then, to add insult to injury, the MDs office wouldn't return the pharmacy's requests to refill my bp meds. It took a week, 3 faxes and multiple phone calls to get that refill. Grrrr...... Miserable sods. They should all some day ne...

Re: San Francisco Pride 2009

Last weekend I had a feeling of pressure in the chest and got whisked off to UMASS Med in a shiny red ambulance. Despite several baby asprin and a under the tongue nitro spray my BP kept climbing. Car arrived in the ER wearing a skirt. Nobody noticed. Finally after several nitro tabs, a nitro patch...

Re: Knee High Boots

There may be. Which is one of the reasons why I find it rather amusing that most females don't wear knee-high socks with their skirts, yet they'll go bare-legged and wear knee-high boots with the same skirt, usually with a very similar effect. *shrug* -J To women of my vintage (ie. 40s and older), ...

Re: Thom Browne Mens Skirt Suit sell out?

I am not usually one to be so judgemental about clothing choices -- but this outfit makes my eyes bleed. The shoes... good heavens, the shoes are like giant white flippers! And the unbalanced look of the square suit-jacket on the top half of the guy, and the narrow, shapeless, confining skirt below....

Re: I like seeing women in skirts!

When I was growing up, girls and women wore skirts because they had to, or because they would get funny looks and nasty comments if they didn't. If a girl wore trousers to school (any school) back then, she would get sent to the principal's office, where they'd call her mother to bring her home to ...

Re: hi from the netherlands

Welcome, Wichor, and congratulations on your upcoming parenthood! From my own experience, I'd say take your baby with you to as many places as you can -- it gets you a child who's not afraid of people, and who can fall asleep under practically any sort of circumstance. Sleep deprivation for parents ...

Re: Will skirts survive!

I'm glad you found the post interesting; I found it pretty interesting having a transvestite as a tenant, and trying to wrap my head around his worldview. As for men who would like to wear skirts and choose to disguise themselves as women to do it... it's an interesting thought. Being female, I'm un...

Re: Hiking Breakneck Ridge in a skirt

What a wonderful skirt! Did you make that one, AMM? Purple and airy looking double layers makes me think skirts aren't so useless to me after all. :D Hey, skirts are great -- wonderfully comfortable. And they don't *touch* you all the time, like those intrusive trousers always do. Ask any of the gu...
