Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

When I try to imagine a new version of a male skirt, I see a shapeless sack, dull in color, festooned with pockets. In the past I have looked at online images of male skirts, and decided not to purchase because I didn't care for the look. BTW, I doubt you will be able to convince the average man to ...

Re: euronews: Are male skirts about to be the next fashion essential?

Moon Shadow said "I really like femme stuff." I think there is a sort of mirror image of the classic Tomboy. Tomboys-defined here as girls who like boys stuff. Contrasted by the male who likes femme stuff.

Re: self expression

This thread has focused on skirted outfits. Other modes of self-expression may also be at risk. As an example-nail polish. Among the people I have come across, I have noticed that a few young men are experimenting with nail polish. Nail polish is not my particular interest, but I like the idea that ...

Closing Window of Opportunity

It has been warned by crfriend that skirted garments may soon become signifiers for LGBTQ. In which case, we can expect the average straight male to reject the idea of trying skirts. Normalizing Men In Skirts will be pushed far into the future, beyond our life times. Comments?

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

The 1950s . For trousers specifically intended/designed/tailored for women, several different designs gained traction. Women had a work garment-an early version of women's jeans. There were a few other designs which could be described as general purpose designs. At present, there are no general pur...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Women in trousers during the 1920s . Previously it was acceptable for women to wear bloomers for certain athletic activities. That trend was amplified by the addition of "knickers", as they were called. But this was also the decade when trousers for other uses began to gain traction, such as work at...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Going back over the history of women going the other way.... During the 1890s bloomers saw a measure of acceptance-and legality-for use in athletic activities. During the first world war, wives wore their husbands trousers for work in factories. We start to see some more change in the 1920s. Though ...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

If we have little time left, a stealth skirt won't help. I imagine something like that having a very gradual influence, due to its stealthy nature, over a period of perhaps decades..

Re: crfriends comments and LGBTQ XYZ

So.... Will we soon have to resort to garments that blur the distinction between skirts and trousers? There was a bit of discussion in the thread Common Terminology regarding "stealth skirts". As I understand it, the skirt would be designed to resemble shorts. A deep pleat center front, and a deep p...

Re: Who What Wear: Brad Pitt Just Wore a Skirt on the Red Carpet and Pulled It Off With Ease

Brad Pitt wouldn't look half bad in that outfit, if it was a bit more tidy. With the jacket and skirt combination it looks almost as if he is wearing a skirt suit.

Response to TomOfTx

Perhaps some wives will tolerate a skirted garment if-but only if-it is traditional mens wear in there country, and only with a tradition purpose and setting. The fustanella in Greece, the (traditional) kilt in Scotland, as examples.

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

I am forced to agree-we won't see a clothing revolution during our life times. (I was born in 1956). There might never be a clothing revolution. If there ever is, history suggests that it may-at the earliest-gain traction during the early 22nd century. A life time away, if not more. Number 4-a gener...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Category 6. Some type of skirt becomes mens wear in the context of a particular subculture. For example, I recall seeing a skirt being advertised as a Goth skirt.
