Not only does it appear to not be a kilt, but seems to have a rather "baggy" pencil skirt shape about it.

Not particularly elegant, but hey, high marks for effort anyway!

I believe the fellow on the left is wearing an Irish kilt. I recall an image posted to X Marks of a man wearing a saffron kilt, and it was grand :!:

Re: Harry Styles wearing skirts and dresses

In reference to Coder's images, I believe that the 18th century was the last period of truly fancy dress for males. Clothing became much more subdued during the 19th century, but (in more formal attire) allowed a certain sense of style-something seldom seen today.

I think the younger generations don't have the same hangups as Boomers, so pigeon holing and categories of either clothing or other societal norms is just mot their thing..
I believe somebody once said that change comes from the young. :!:

Well done, Coder. I think that skirts as athletic wear is a good way to promoted MIS. :D

Re: Harry Styles wearing skirts and dresses

A number of cultures have had open ended garments intended as mens wear. Unfortunately, Western Civilization has demanded a Trousers Tyranny for men-the kilt being almost the only exception.

If men have been trapped in trousers, it follows that skirts would be associated entirely with feminimity.

Yes, they got brainwashed as kids.

Really, Trousers Tyranny for males has been discredited in numerous posts to Skirt Cafe.

Re: New boy on the block

Skaterboy, there have been some threads regarding what skirts may gain traction. I don't recall any of the thread titles, but I believe some of them are in the kilts and Skirts section. There has been extensive discussion.

Re: New boy on the block

I took a look at the debate.org link. Usual objections based on convention. In Western Civilization MIS is against convention, and people experience cognitive dissonance at the sight. People are used to things being a certain way. Other cultures have had other conventions regarding mens wear. In whi...

Re: New boy on the block

@Grok, I'm still working on creating the styles; but a good starting point is the kilt - that's as masculine AF, and girls are practically orgasmic just to see it! The challenge for me is to maintain that response while breaking free of the strict definitions of what counts as a kilt. The reaction ...

Re: New boy on the block

Utility kilts were well received here in Seattle, Skaterboy. I believe that people associate the garments with kilts rather than skirts. I think that blue denim would be a good choice for conveying ruggedness. The obvious association is with jeans, but unlike jeans I believe that a denim skirt could...
