Indeed, Stu. It is a cynical form of Virtue Signalling by the Powers That Be.

Re: Tomorrow I Fly

[1] There are two economies in the USA. One is the Wall Street Economy, which is primarily the playground of the oligarchs and which is doing obscenely well considering what's going on; the other is the economy where 99.999% of the population try to live in, and that's in tatters with absolute unem...

Perhaps the applicable metaphor is about the grass being greener on the other side.

Based on various images posted by members, I would say yes.

Re: Skirt Wearing by Women Increasing?

Women haven't been buying skirts for years now and the donation stock is shrinking I think this the most likely explanation. I haven't noticed any significant increase in years for womens skirt wearing. I think for the average woman skirt wearing is reserved for: 1. Special occasions. 2. The hottes...

Members are attuned to MIS because that is our particular interest, but even we can experience cognitive dissonance.

Re: Did we (men) force women to wear pants?

Awhile back a member stated that feminine clothing-except for a few business suits-are designed to show off a woman's sexuality

Unless you happen to want to show off your sexuality, what are the alternatives?

Re: Gucci Dress for Men

Still the guy said that the fit was wrong and simply a woman's dress, fit and all, pointed towards men. FAIL. I have gotten the impression that the big name designers think as though they are designing for women (to the extent that they think of customers at all). As though men are women, if oddly ...

Re: Dress number two

When you start out with sewing you find yourself experimenting a lot. Trying to figure out how to sew, and trying to come up with a garment that works for you.

From a very small arbitrary and non-scientific sampling, my observations in the few places I routinely attend, the number of women wearing skirts has increased from the times before I attended those venues routinely in a skirt.
An unexpected irony-that MIS could be allies for WIS.

Dresses on guys can work -- and can work quite well indeed. It just takes attention to detail.
I think there is considerable potential with such garments. But to make it work the designer must be serious about making something that men can wear as clothing.

Re: Where will we be in say... ten years?

We are now about where women were in the 1930's with wearing pants - a few impractical fashion statements on catwalks etc. https://cardiffbookhistory.wordpress.com/2012/10/15/women-in-trousers-1/ The 2nd war helped a lot towards wider acceptance and was quite widely accepted in the 1960's. I am not...

Word to the wise: "Lose the dungarees." It's an entirely naff look. Likely half the reactions had more to do with the incongruous look of the pairing than about the dress itself.
What is the point of wearing a dress over trousers? You lose the advantages of an open ended garment.
