Re: So many more of the old timers we loved have gone

I enjoyed Spy vs. Spy. I enjoyed those folding covers, and the various other cartoons.

Re: Custody battle in Texas over 7-year-old transgender

In short, stop moving the goalposts I suspect that which ever way the goalposts are moved, masculinity-of whatever flavor-will be a harsh, unforgiving, constricting and stultifying role. A major difference from the past is that males will be accused of "toxic masculinity", rather than masculinity b...

Re: So many more of the old timers we loved have gone

After 67 years, we are losing MAD magazine. No new material will be printed, though I understand that old material might be reprinted. We are losing something I enjoyed as a kid. One comment I read said that the old creative cadre of MAD has retired or passed away. The magazine had a long run, but n...

Re: So many more of the old timers we loved have gone

One is reminded of the passage of time-and of one's own aging-when the entertainers of one's youth pass away, or are now quite elderly. To some extent when other famous people pass away. Of course, this is much more poignant when family members pass away. A few years ago I realized that my family wa...

Re: Custody battle in Texas over 7-year-old transgender

In our society, we need to make space and for, and encourage toleration of, girlish boys and boyish girls as simply variants within the normal range. I would quite agree with such toleration. Actually, there has been a considerable toleration of Tomboys. But not so for boys with feminine interests.

Re: Custody battle in Texas over 7-year-old transgender

He seems to have been the victim of abuse by his own mother convincing him that he is a girl, which appears to be what she wants him to be, and one of the main ways she is imposing that on him is by making him wear dresses - because only girls wear dresses, right? If it were the case that there was...

Nor I. I learned early on that employers demand a one-sided relationship.

I try to do a good job, but I am emotionally detached from it, and the company.

Re: Jeans-to-skirt Conversion

Dry sunny day today, with mild temperature for October. First time out and about in the jean skirt. Needed only a lightweight jacket. Went to grocery store down the street to get my lunch. No reaction from the staff or customers in the store, nor from people on the street. Went home, put my lunch on...

Re: In defense of feminine men

I have looked at various articles regarding sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and so forth. If I understand correctly, these different aspects tend to be correlated with different parts of the brain, and can be influenced by events in the womb. I can't speak authoratatively reg...
