Re: Going to sew my own kilt, any suggestions before I start?

Yea I found the Xkilt post the day I joined this forum. I've been reading through the posts there and found a lot of useful information. My first kilt attempt was not so good (no pics). Today I'm working on my second kilt attempt using my own design and a camo fabric. For simplicity and since I freq...

Re: SkirtCafe Core Values

I hope the Skirt Cafe gets straightened out because I almost left after I first arrived due to there being so much fighting and such. I'm just a guy who likes kilts. That's all there is to me and kilts/skirts etc. I don't like sarongs, I don't like makeup, I don't like pantyhose, I don't like other ...

Re: Hello, I'm new here and hope this forum is useful

I'm of Scottish decent (Campbell) but just do not like the traditional styled kilt and feel "some" of the newer ones are better suited for todays world. People evolve, so should clothing ;) At this time I'm making a kilt out of a $2 a yard cotton material. So far so good. I plan to make se...

Re: some attitude changes

Good post, good points. I had a similar situation a number of times with my wife. One time she wanted to cut her hair short (I like long hair) and I didn't want her to cut it. She cut it anyway. It wasn't too bad. Now I cut my hair real short (it can be seen when I take pictures of my new kilt with ...

Re: Hello, I'm new here and hope this forum is useful

Thank you all for your kind words. :D
I didn't know that UK's are now up around $200.00
For my size and length, the original is $200 even. I did see some other kilts for around $100, but they lack the functionality I need, so I was planning on making my own (post in Sewing board).

Going to sew my own kilt, any suggestions before I start?

I'm gonna sew my own kilt within a week (have to prepare the sewing machine, get some more practice in with it, get some fabric and more thread). I will be making a "test kilt" probably using an old sheet or other very cheap fabric just for testing my sewing and such. After I'm confident i...

Hello, I'm new here and hope this forum is useful

I'm new here and wanted to make a general introduction to myself. I'm a 24 year old guy living in California. I'm interested in many topics including kilts. My personal preference is the "Utility Kilt". I am not fond of traditional kilts as they just do not fit what I need/like. The utilit...

Re: DIY "Utilikilt"...

I know this post is old, but is the original poster still around?

If so, have you made anymore Utility kilts? If so, got anymore pictures? Better pictures?

Also curious why this board is so dead...
