Sometimes police here smile and wave...no problem. Sometimes, they slow down the squad car and give me a long, hard, piercing stare, which just goes to show, that while we're on duty pushing the boundries, they are on duty trying to figure out what our duty is all about:spin: Have you ever heard the...

Follow in His Footsteps?

Is there any chance of anyone "following in his footsteps"?

It seems as though his product is unique enough and there is enough of a demand for it. Or, to put it another way, is there anyone else who will make kilts like he did?

The story continues...

This afternoon I took some items for a rummage sale to the home of the head usher who I ushered with last night (see above). I took the items into his garage, and his small, "confused" grandson was there smiling, who wanted to help me carry some of my stuff. On the rack in the background I...

An usher is one who helps to pass the collection plates around, takes the plates up to the front of the church to give to the pastor during the service, helps the people to leave in an orderly fashion at the service's end, passes out the bulletins (programs) to people coming to services, ect. No uni...

Well, well what do you know

Deeper and deeper we go The wheel has made another turn Some lessons we continue to learn Tonight at church we had examination of the confirmands, and, at the spur of the moment I was asked to usher, And yes, I was dressed in my purple kilt, black white-trimmed knee-high soccer socks, white pleated ...

I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune. Perhaps your Mom should have waited until she heard what other people thought about your skirt before she reacted that way. One question: What if the majority of people in your church support you and tell her that? How would she deal with that? If I can do an...

I just realized...

...that if I don't wear a kilt to church this Sunday, I'll be giving the impression that what I do is wrong. I think if anyone wants to make a bigger issue out of it, I'll tell them to do research on skirts/kilts. You'd think in this day and age of Google and libraries people could find out things b...

iain: You'd really like my pastor. We were talking about the fact that so many people think our church is conservative; but as he says, "We are conservative where we need to be conservative, and we are liberal where we can be liberal." Eagle 95: To be honest, I have to give my small town a...

Women@Church:"You're Confusing Children"

I was walking into my new house when a good lady friend of mine of 25+ years approached me. She started a casual conversation asking me about how I like my new house and such things. Then she said (para.) "Some of the ladies from church wanted me to ask you about why you always wear skirts. Som...

I don't know if this helps you any, but...

...I recently re-joined the church I was baptized in, and hadn't gone in a long time. Since it is a conservative church, I was a little concerned myself. Before my Mom died last year, the pastor (a really nice guy and now a good friend) would visit my house and see me in my skirt/kilt, and it was ne...

Longshadows lamented:
What I should be thinking is how sad that this person isn't able to see beyond this piece of cloth.
To the open-minded, the skirt/kilt will be an educational experience, but for the close-minded it will be yet another blindfold :(

Fyi

I don't know if this is still true, but in the Navy, aren't women referred to as 'Sir' or 'Mister'? I learned this because one day I was watching Star Trek II the Wrath of Kahn and Savvik (Spock's female protege) was addressed as 'Mister Savvik'. I thought that was strange until I did some research ...
