Re: Another useful Sainsbury's skirt

The sizing of Tu clothing is definitely not to be trusted. I purchased two recently, one stated as size 16 and one as 18. Both were actually the same size. If you don't want to try anything on, at least have a tape measure handy. Sainsbury's have no problems changing or refunding a garment, unless, ...

Re: What Is the Lure of Skirts?

I'm a kilt, trouser and skirt wearer, in that order of choice. A kilt or skirt for me is an experience every time I put one on. They always raise my sense of well being in that I'm a lot happier without my legs being constantly molly coddled in material. I think it might also have something to do wi...

Re: Another useful Sainsbury's skirt

didn't mean any offense. No offence taken :D . We will all have slightly different approaches to the main ingredient of this forum's purpose. Comfort zones, both in a literal (and confidence) sense determine our journey, and I think it's interesting how each of us handles the subject in our own way...

Re: Another useful Sainsbury's skirt

Shoes from the other side are of no interest to me. I have one wider foot due to a misaligned big toe joint, which sticks out. In the shoe department I go for comfort rather than looks. This is actually an interesting argument to skirting and kilting. I wouldn't expect many would go for heels with a...

Re: Another useful Sainsbury's skirt

My next acquisition from the same source, and a bit more jazzy. The first photo is with an unaltered jacket, the second is with one altered by removing 130mm. I think it makes a more likely image. This is a patterned skirt I would probably feel more at ease with in public as the pattern is more folk...

Re: Maybe a skirt suit remedy

The jacket was only £4. I'll look for another with shorter sleeves and maybe get that altered in length. Trying to match material and colour from online photography is obviously hit and miss, so I'm expecting a few bum steers.

Re: Maybe a skirt suit remedy

An excellent look Ray!

I've found a suitable jacket on eBay and the colouring is very close to the charcoal grey skirt. I've photoshopped the reduced length of it, otherwise is far too long.

Re: Another useful Sainsbury's skirt

my wife (who will be 70 in six months) still looks terrific in a short skirt, thanks to yoga, Pilâtes, gym sessions etc Lucky man. I always seem to dwell on the negative, and must work on that. I do agree that confidence does play the main part in skirting. Unfortunately for me, the higher the heml...

Re: Another useful Sainsbury's skirt

I tend to follow the reasoning that seeing a 70 year old woman in a short skirt could be verging on tarty. I guess it all depends on looks and being able to carry it off. I regret I couldn't anyway with my figure! But I envy your panache.

Another useful Sainsbury's skirt

I purchased this one from Sainsbury's some months ago. I'm afraid I do like neutral colours - even my car is black. The skirt is mostly polyester with a hint of viscose, and Elastane makes it ultra stretchy. The length is as short as I'd want to go with skirts though I do have a slightly more abbrev...

Re: Out shopping

A-line is the usual style I expect, and a bit of flare ties in with my preferences too. Skirts which have a more pronounced shaped waist line suited to curvier customers aren't any use to me. Denims tend to be more forgiving. The other thing I don't care much for are denim skirts which have bleached...

Re: Out shopping

Denim is a favourite of mine too. Forget the over supported use of jeans in the world, as they're a different product altogether, and now usually ripped to shreds even before being sold (probably the best thing to happen to them). In the skirt world denim skirts are very practical and down to earth ...

Re: Maybe a skirt suit remedy

I had a black jacket altered in length to compliment my black kilts, as kilt jackets are always shorter than normal, possibly so as not to flop over the sporren, though I don't wear sporrens now. I wanted a plain jacket rather than the usual Scottish look with turned back shaped cuffs, epaulettes, e...

Maybe a skirt suit remedy

Sitting here with my regular cup of Americano a thought just flashed through my mind. I've been keen on lashing together some kind of skirt suit for a more orderly look than my usual casual approach. If stores would, if not catering directly for the male skirt purchaser...which obviously they're not...

Re: Weight Loss and Wearing Skirts

As I was just south of 13 stone (sorry I don't do pounds) which is too far north of 11...my preference...I'm now following a new meal arrangement. So far it appears to be slowly working. A medium sized breakfast, main meal at midday and just light snack around 5-6pm. Apparently the digestive system ...
