Re: Old article about Oxford's dress code change

I’ve read the comments. I’m not sure I agree with you. Most seem Mail-ish, that is, written by drooling halfwits who want men to be men (whatever that means).

That’s the Daily Wail for you - it’s readers are so narrow minded, they could look through a keyhole with both eyes.

Tights?

I love them. Sheer hosiery is sensual, like a mature red burgundy wine. Opaque hosiery is like a teddy bear hugging your legs. I find bare legs aesthetically unappealing. Each to their own.

Re: How the Kilt was designed to be opposite to the English! | Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow

Sadly, I find McIntyre smug, knowing, and ultimately not that funny. His little “I think I’m being really funny” giggles during sketches is like nails being dragged over a blackboard to me. I really don’t like him or his humour. That said, the tights sketch was amusing. I just think how Billy Connol...

Re: Transportation

To be honest for the driver of a car they are a complete nuisance and slow peak hour traffic to a crawl. Therefore you are welcome to them. John One idea would be to remove or curtail car use in towns, where you would commonly come across trams. The former are highly polluting, with nitrous oxide a...

I don’t think we’re going to agree on this one.

Re: Cosmopolitan

Yes, I get that, but when referring to countries in general as part of a list, the U.K. is the correct term. It’s comparing apples with pears - and using England in that list elevates it to full country status - which of course it doesn’t have, what with no Parliament, army, seat at the UN, or forei...

Re: Cosmopolitan

During my more than 50 years 'behind the mask' in three Europoean countries, in England most non-whites were Indian/Pakistani or Caribbean. In Germany most foreigners were Turkish guest workers or far Eastern, Back here in Ireland the immigrant population are a real mix of Eastern Europeans, Equato...

I’m a big fan of their music. The Poet and the Pendulum, first song off Dark Passion Play, is like Lloyd Webber meets Lord of the Rings meets Metallica. It’s a terrific album. Imaginaerum is also excellent.

Yes. Stevie has been distressed by the recent tone and direction of the café. He has left. It’s not for me to say any more. I’m not sure he’d want that.

Oh, global warming is real enough - but climate change is a better descriptor. More extreme and unusual weather patterns are the result. Here in the UK, everything is wet. Very very wet...
