Re: Let's start a Pizza Hut boycott!!!!
That is why laws protecting "gender identity and expression" are important. In states that have such laws on their books, it is clear that Pizza Hut can't throw him out for wearing a dress. In states without such laws (such as, almost certainly, the Carolinas)... he might not have a right ...
Re: CD or TV?
CD and TV mean the same thing. One is in English, one in Latin. People at times have tried to assign differing meanings to the two terms, but I don't really buy it. I've found that in gender stuff, people tend to re-define terms to their liking all the time. Sometimes it can become hard to know what...

New Master Barista
I have been an infrequent visitor to SkirtCafe as of late. In the meantime, crfriend and Uncle Al have done an amazing job at keeping it going whether or not I'm around. I am therefore pleased to announce that crfriend is now Master Barista. Uncle Al remains an Administrator. And I am stepping back ...

Re: Wife drugs husband, dresses him in skirt, calls doctor
This is why societies need a practical form of divorce. Here is Wikipedia's description of Irish divorce laws: The largely Catholic population of Ireland has tended to be averse to divorce. The position has changed in recent times with a sizeable increase in the number of divorces granted by the Iri...

Re: Kilt with high heels
I take back my original assessment. I think that kilt and high-heel pumps would be a fashion faux-pas. But a kilt with the right high-heel boots could look pretty awesome. You don't want spike heels, but rather the kind where the heels have at least a silver-dollar size surface area. http://www.kabo...

Re: Kilt with high heels
I agree, a kilt and heels would seem to be a fashion disaster of sorts. I can't think of how it would look good on anyone. But this is not a fashion show, it's a "walk in HER shoes" event, seemingly meant to raise awareness (yours and others) of some of the gender-related issues faced by w...

Re: Hey Ma'am I Like Your Dress
This reminds me of an incident my wife and I had last week. We were on a long, late-night drive back to our hometown. We stopped for Burger King drive-through at a truck stop we frequent --- and also to get a new laptop battery out of the trunk. So I pulled into the parking lot, there was nobody aro...

Dennis, thank you for sharing. I cry when I read about the struggles you must now go through on a daily basis.
Re: Quiet?
Maybe it's time we start a Facebook group. The younger crowd tends to congregate there.

Re: Music is the universal language
Oh where oh where is my moderator hat? OK guys, let's cool it, OK? Off topic threads are OK in the off topic forum. No doubt this person has put a lot of work into replicating an orchestra on a keyboard instrument. But as for the original question... how good a replica is it? I suggest the reader li...

Re: Love the outfit but hate the comment tags
Believe it or not, this could be counted as progress.
Similar statements were commonly made about women wearing slacks in the 1950's. "Hey, look at this photo of a crossdresser." Etc. And now those photos would be considered not even worth notice, let alone a comment.

Re: Equality Bill - UK
Kris, I would agree, the hate crime bills would probably cover the typical SkirtCafe'er who gets beaten up. But so do the general assult-and-battery bills. In any case, our experience has shown that wearing a skirt attracts little or no violent notice from the wider society. The larger issue for so ...

Re: Equality Bill - UK
Under US Law, schools and employers have not been allowed to discriminate on "race" or "sex" for a while. That was meant to right the consistent pattern of violence and discrimination against ethnic minorities and women. In the 1990's, "sexual orientation" was added to ...

The Long Tail of Fashion Retailing
It looks like web sites are now springing up, focused on connecting fashion designers, wholesalers and customers. These places could be fertile ground for designers interested in making skirts for men, and other avant-garde fashions that do not have the volume to sell in the Big Box Stores. http://t...
