I have to say, she rocks a suit and looks great in it. Further research turns out that she is a suit tailor, for women. So here we see the taking over of male fashion as we watch....

Not being a great lover of the suit, the women can have them, but what are all the bankers and politicians going to wear, when they realise the three piece suit is so feminine in a year or two?

It would be so fun to see what the middle aged white man would do if women en mass really took to the suit and went out of their ways to wear them all the time to make a statement.

It does look better on women than it does on men. I still don't think it looks good though, guess I just don't like suits.

If women wore suits ut woukd be fine. They did itbin the 80s andneveryone like it. Itbwas seennas a power thing with big hair and big shoulder pads to match.
I get the need of any person male or female to feel powerful. Nobody wants to be weak. A guy in a skirt needs to be very sure of himself to maintain a big butch front in a skirt. I've no idea why that is though. Or at least it's complicated.

You are giving the argument for Christians to be naturists.

The 80's power dressing was always in colour, this interested me since she is using very masculine suiting cloth and taking the whole city suit look and making it hers and doing it well.

This reminds me of my surprise to see our Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons wearing a similar outfit for Budget Day this November.
It is tradition in the UK for the Speaker of the House to defer to the Deputy Speaker for the Budget, the one day when you can be sure of a huge live TV audience.
Nusrat Ghani ( Conservative MP) choose to wear the same sort of outfit as most of the men present, so surely a fine example of power dressing if ever there was one.
It strikes me of gross hypocrisy, and I wonder what would happen if the shoe was on the other foot.

In town today, I noticed that H&M are currently running an ad featuring women in suits.

Not a politician but a senior civil servant, male wore a dress at Theresa May's inauguration ceremony.
That didn't mean the end of civilisation or democracy as we know it.
That boot would be moved if the male contingent thought there was advantage in it.
Let's face facts modern politics is steeped in spin, hype and plain old lies, hypocrisy is just normal.

Well, the men could experiment with nudity.

That would be quite chilly in the winter .

I don't hate men's suits; I wear them sometimes on Sunday mornings. However, what I don't like is that's the only conventional formal attire for men. Anybody following my posts can see I regularly wear dresses, along with heels, makeup, and earrings also.

So, it doesn't bother me if women want to wear coat and tie outfits.

Almost all of mens formal wear is some version of a trousers suit. The Kilt with associated regalia is an alternative, but nevertheless is a kind of suit.

I realize now that I think in terms of suits. Including skirt suits for men. I haven't thought about dresses as alternative formal wear for men. For purchasing, and donning, it would offer the advantage of being "one and done."

As for trouser suits for men, I have thought about different options for neck wear, or no neckwear. Or dispensing with the jacket, and basing the outfit on waistcoat + trousers. Of course, these options could apply to a man's skirt suit, which is why I have considered them in the first place.

I'm afraid this thread shows another barrier to fashion freedom for men, men!
What women choose to wear should have no effect on a man's choices.
My only problem would be if skirts and dresses were to disappear completely and that won't happen any sooner than MIS going mainstream.
Use the freedom, make up your own mind, that's what female fashion has done.
We can do likewise if we dare.

Given that woman have embraced their own Great Renunciation, borrowing our suits is an improvement by default.

My own view is women brought about the change by saying it is more practical. Fashion followed practicality.
For men we want the skirted option for fashion purpose only. Or that's how it's seen. Or becuase we want to be women or because we are gay. That might be true for some but definetly not all.
We do dare but the rest of the men are not following.
