GERMANY
I'm off to Germany today for week. Does anyone have any experience of life in Germany for the Skirted Man?
Re: GERMANY
Sorry no, but the men do wear those leather shorts in certain parts, so you may want to take a brown leather skirt to fit in?

So far so good Mouse. We have arrived at a campsite in Koln. Its packed. Proper prices, 8euros not silly £25.
Reaction has been much like the UK..say nothing.

Re: GERMANY
I have great memories of Koln, since I visited the city with a Leicestershire Schools orchestra, when I was in my teens. The joke I remember was, "Why did they build the Cathedral so close to the train station". That and you had to buy 4711 perfume to take home. Great city to visit, have a great time.Barleymower wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 3:59 pm So far so good Mouse. We have arrived at a campsite in Koln. Its packed. Proper prices, 8euros not silly £25.

Re: GERMANY
Mouse we had a whizz into town and will visit properly tomorrow.
From an MIS perspective I'm happy to report Koln has been very welcoming. I'm treated like anyone else which is what I want.
Germany, here at least is much more accepting of alternative people. We saw lots of different people. On the steps of the Dom
It's not my most favorite skirt but it doesn't crease and after a long day driving in 33degrees and broken air conditioning, that's a bonus.

Looks coherent with your body shape, does not look remotely feminine to me.Barleymower wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 9:26 pm Mouse we had a whizz into town and will visit properly tomorrow.

No personal experience but "The Beskirted Man" (Alex) lives in Germany so the experiences he's written about should be relevant.Barleymower wrote: ↑Sat Jun 21, 2025 6:27 am I'm off to Germany today for week. Does anyone have any experience of life in Germany for the Skirted Man?

Re: GERMANY
Here's what i have found so far. Since Saturday we have been to Köln, Düsseldorf and Krefeld.
Germany is a diverse but also conservative country. I was last here in 1993 and it has hardly changed. The same shops, eis cakes, pizzerias. It has been hit by the amazon effect with some shops boarded up when everything was once open. Nothing compared to what has happened in England though.
Women mostly dress in drab. They prefer tight jeans, leggings and close fitting tops. Some women appreciate fine clothes. I saw some lovely long skirts and dresses.
Men dress in jeans or knee length shorts with shirts or motive tees.
I kept my eyes open for skirted men but I've only seen one goth in a miniskirt and boots.
I have seen a lot of open gay and lesbians. The men are more flamboyantly dressed and the women are more drab. They nearly all dress according to their assigned gender.
It won't stop me wearing what i want today when we visit Wuppertal and Munster.

Yes we are fans of Wuppertal and the mono rail. It"s a great piece of engineering architechure, hanging above the river.Mouse wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 10:34 amWuppertal - Are you going on the hanging mono rail?Barleymower wrote: ↑Tue Jun 24, 2025 6:13 am It won't stop me wearing what i want today when we visit Wuppertal and Munster.
We are at the zoo right now, having a coffee, waiting for the rain to stop. It gives me a little time to post something.

Re: GERMANY
(Different country, but probably just as conservative as Germany.) I have just returned from 3 weeks in rural Normandy, went to four tourist information offices in different towns, out quite often walking in the countryside, shopping in different supermarkets (Auchan, Leclerc) and at a Decathlon shop, visiting different builder's merchants and a maker of bespoke doors and windows for various bits for remaking a front-door, eating out at various restaurants, etc, and all without any visible reaction. The only exception was when being checked with his wand by the security person on leaving the country yesterday evening, he asked "Are you Scottish?"

Re: GERMANY
If I didn't make it clear in my previous post, I wore skirts all the time, from when I left home three weeks ago until I got back in the very early hours this morning.
