Since it was Hogmanay here in Scotland I thought it would be a good idea to go for my walks in a my kilt and with it being Hogmanay it wouldn’t look too odd to the public (not that wearing a kilt is odd anyway) as they would assume I was going to a party or event.

Anyway I got my first comment whilst walking proudly in the town. A couple of women walked past and one of them looked and smiled at me and said and joked “I can see up your kilt”. I just looked at her back with a smile and went about my day. The woman sounded foreign.

The comment gave me mixed feelings of feeling flattered and feeling offended as I was thinking of double standards. The outcome would be different had I said to her the same comment.

DRF you should have said something. It's very much a man thing to grin and bear teasing.

I would not get too upset about women taking notice of you. For me, I was totally ignored while wearing trousers for so many years. Now I am someone who is different and interesting, people seem so much more engaging and willing to converse with me. If the opening gambit is humour, then I usually retort with thanks and maybe conversation back. I get the double standard, but I over look that, if it results in a conversation, which is fun for me and certainly preferable to indifference.

I was out today, a kilted skirt and categorically not a kilt.
Only comment was on my white rhinestone encrusted tie atop a blue cable knit jersey.
Out, drinking coffee and doing some creative writing too.
Lunch was Ostrich fillet steak before I leave the house again.
All in all, a rather untraditional start to the New Year and I love it.
