Loose skirt around the waist

Hello!

I have a midi skirt that almost fits me; however it is a bit loose around the waist. The skirt does not have belt loops.

What can I do to bring the waist in about an inch (2.5 cm)? Also, are there any temporary solutions?

Thank you! :D

You may be able to make a wide belt work, even without the belt loops. The other thing you can use is an elasticated corset belt https://amzn.eu/d/0b8LPWva or https://amzn.eu/d/0bvkSgLl type things. Other than that, time to get the sewing machine out or eat more pies🤠

Thank you, Mouse. I'll look into using a wide belt and see what I can come up with via the North American Amazon site.
You mentioned pies. Dutch Apple or Pecan? :D

Dutch Apple - AND - Pecan. Maybe with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream, too.

I've fixed several of those by threading elastic through the waistband. Quite simple even for someone with my very limited sewing skills.

I prefer my pie room temperature and my ice cream cold. Ice cream should be served and consumed frozen.

Go Vanilla, Go! :D

Using elastic via threading is a good idea, too. Thank you.

Should be fairly easy to pinch in a dart at the waist and. Tack it down with a few hand stiches to try it out. Safety pins will work as a quick and temporary solution.

Apple pie should be eaten with melted sharp cheddar on top as they do in Vermont.

I've tried that and it IS good :D
Also try warm pumpkin pie with a drizzle of honey on top. Yummy :!:

I guess this is another way of tightening a loose skirt :D

Yep, tighten the skirt by enlarging the wearer! There is always more than one way to skin a cat.

Is it a zipper closure? then it's easy and can be done by hand, just unpick it with a seam ripper, fold it over the extra amount on the top, flatten, pin and re-stich.

It is not a zippered closure. I ended up using a safety pin for temporary use until I can get the skirt in front of a sewing machine.
