You could play a game - spot the Scottish fan NOT wearing a "skirt" today!! Munich's full of them in kilts, and all (so far) representing their country beautifully!!

The Tartan Army are usually well behaved, albeit quite rowdy! They are happy drunks.
I’ve already seen one video of fans in a Bier Keller singing away. The piper, in kilt, is standing on a bench. He slowly topples backwards and disappears.
Moments later, he reappears, none the worse for wear, and carries on piping.
It’s so funny to watch!

So where do we get to see this piper???
A URL would be nice.

I’ve met the tartan army at close quarters, albeit in the 1970s. In my experience they are only happy drunks for a short period of time. When that time expires you’re best keeping away.

So the Scots have all learned how to get pissed without turning violent? If you believe that you’ll believe anything.

What's more try telling these amiable drunken Scots that the Kilt is a skirt!
You are about to discover how much things can change in a nanosecond, never mind half a century.
Speaking as a Scot, living in Scotland, I do believe that I can state this with a degree of authority, so don't bother trying to correct me please.
The thing that has changed is that the drunken Scots nowadays might not give a damn about your "skirt", fifty years ago the same guys would have beat the crap out of you for it.
Just be very cautious about what you say and how you say it.
Steve.

Interesting. It’s the English fans, not the Scots, that go on rampages, getting arrested, causing violence. The last final in 2021 at Wembley? Carnage. How many England fans arrested of the 86 arrested?
The Scottish fans aren’t perfect but they do know to have fun and not cause trouble.
Which nation had its teams banned from European football for a number of years? Hint: it’s not Scotland. Or Wales or Northern Ireland for that matter.
As I said. A lot has changed in half a century.

Well said, Ray. Drunk people all over the world are a problem and singling out the Scots in this respect is unreasonable. It was English fans who insulted their German hosts at the Euros by singing WWII chants. How uncouth.

It was the English football hooliganism that turned me away from watching England in the 70/80's, their behaviour in general but, in particular, the 1977 + 1983 riots in Luxembourg - tiny little Luxembourg that's been no bother to anyone, ever, that took me over the edge. Although I'm English I refer myself as British and support Scotland and Netherlands for the party atmosphere. They may have parochial issues (Celtic/Rangers, Feijnoord/Ajax) but when following their country they leave those matters at home. In fact, I imaging the international followers mainly support "smaller" clubs back home, I rarely see a flag of any of those teams when Scotland/Netherlands are playing.
English behaviour is much better now that it was then, even so there are usually pockets of incidents, but I still wouldn't feel comfortable with them.

Agreed, drunks are volatile and unpredictable regardless.
The German fans were unreasonably provoked by the English behaving in that manner. Many of those amiable fun loving Scots would have felt equally insulted had their German hosts made derogatory comments about the Kilt being a skirt. I'd say a violent reaction would have been predictable.
As I said be cautious.

It sounds like Munich is bustling with Scottish football fans proudly sporting their kilts today! It's always fun to spot fellow supporters from Scotland celebrating their team with such enthusiasm in Germany. The kilt tradition seems to be going strong, adding a colorful and festive touch to the atmosphere!
On another note, football predictions are always an exciting part of the game. Whether it's guessing the scores or predicting which team will come out on top, it adds an extra layer of thrill to the matches.
