The first time I wore a skirt in public was in a Christmas scene when I was a kid and had to play a shepherd.

I think my first time wearing a "dress" in public was playing the young Robert Louis Stevenson in a nightshirt at a primary school assembly. I wasn't bothered about the nightshirt, but I was for some reason acutely embarassed about appearing in bare feet.

Men's feet have a really bad rap, and while it's gotten better, men still only have "acceptable" open toed footwear options in the most casual of circumstances. Men's feet are assumed gross and ugly, but any attempt to make them look better (nail polish, pedicures, etc.) is also frowned upon.
