Re: Happy Birthday
Thanks again.
This has been a rough one -- perhaps the worst yet. My lady-friend lost an elder brother on the 8th and has been inconsolable and sometimes hysterical since, and is showing signs of being in denial about the whole thing. All too frequently she asks me, "Is my brother really dead?" -- and I'm not about to lie to her, deflecting it gently by answering something along the lines of, "According to anything I've been told he is.", which produces another round of hysterics. There's enormous stress between the remaining siblings, and I usually get accused of "not understanding the situation" because she is one of 10 (now 9) and I'm an only -- and this, along with the denial and hysteria is causing vast amounts of stress between her and I; I haven't been able to devote more than a token amount of attention to my own needs and work since word reached us, and things in my world are starting to wobble. That's why I've been quite quiet for the past few days.
So, it's all a matter of hoping that things get better going forward.
