Yikes! I'm sure you remember the ice storm a couple of years back? Did that hit your area?

I went for a walk in Yarmouth (east coast of Norfolk, England) this afternoon with my wife and one daughter.

The north winds over the last few days have caused the sea to "pile up" towards the southern end of the North Sea between the UK and the Netherlands/Belgium, and with today's high tide, the sea was unnaturally high, much further up the beach than I have seen for many a year; and it was a dirty brown colour with all the sediment swept down from the eroding cliffs further up the coast (in today's local news https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/24049002.c ... t-erosion/).

We walked from the coastguard station out to the water's edge in a fresh north wind, falling powder snow, and settled snow on the sands.

My wife and daughter were both well wrapped up in hats, sweaters, fleeces, thick trousers and boots while I was as usual in skirt, bare legs and sandals, but I admit that my toes did feel a bit tingly in the snow!

Yes and it was quite devastating.

The storm that I really remember was around late January 2005(?).
The day before the major storm hit, I took my 'normal' 45 minute drive into work.
The storm started. My drive home took 2 hours. With this storm, I new I had to
leave for work very early. So, I left the house at 4AM. Finally made it to the main
north bound street to head out of town. I got 9/10's of a mile from home, headed
north but sliding east. Used my cell phone(a brick of a phone at that time) and
called into work stating I can't get there. The ice was too bad. Then made my
way back home. During winter, I keep a square-point shovel in the back of my
Suburban. I used it to chop ice in the ally to be able to get traction to go up
the small hill. I couldn't "turn" into my drive, just barely into the side yard.
Got back into the house at 11AM.

7 hours to go 9/10s of a mile then back home.

That's one winter ice storm I don't want to experience again :!:

FYI -
The picture I posted, of my back yard, WAS NOT SNOW :!:
The "white" was freezing rain and sleet - a.k.a. ICE.

Well, definitely not cold here, yesterday basically misty rain showers, like cloud to seal level, 30ยฐC, heavy overcast, no wind, everything is damp, right now it's 4.30am, 27.4ยฐC and 98% humidity, dew point temp 26.0ยฐC, I've had maybe 2 hrs sleep. Sweat city. Grumble over.

Today must be Indian Summer. At least that's what my parents called a warm spell in winter.
Two days ago, my high temp was 45ยฐF(+/-) and today, around 3:30PM(15:30) CDT, the temp was 73ยฐF.
73ยฐF in January, S.W. of Dallas, TX. so break-out the sun screen.

February will be colder, I'm sure ;)
