I actually don't like the look of this one.

At first glance, kind of "sugar, spice and all things nice" type innocent.
However, my take is really that boys are simply excluded.
Go play with the "puppy dog tails", more your style little man!
Steve.

Absolutely right, Stevie. By "kids" they mean girls. There is a strong tendency among feminists to regard their daughters as a "mini-me".
Of course, we have to admit that the converse is also a thing, with lads wanting to be like their dads.

This may indeed seem uncool, but a parent can make it so.

Agreed Stu,
I was a lad with no dad and suspect that would be less rare these days.
OK not a Mini(mum) but let's say no point of reference either so I just ad-libbed my way through.
Parents can and should make a point of including all their kids regardless.

I suppose there is nothing to stop mum from buying a set and matching up with her boy - fit is less of a problem in preteen shapes - but I would be surprised if more than a few dozen families actually would go through with that. Gender identity crises notwithstanding, boys who dress like mum (especially wearing dresses!) would not be treated well by the plain vanilla neighbours, and the parent(s) would face accusations of "grooming" for daring to encourage anything less than 100% masculinity in little Johnny.

I look at things like this and its awful isn't it. It feels like they are reveling in it.

It is really a bit of hype for Mother's Day.
Like so much else it has been commercialised to the extent that the original meaning is lost in time.
Not so much revelling as pandering to some romantic notion of parenting and childhood.
You might say the "Fairy Snow" version of life as the ad went in days gone by.
"Hallmark" of the success is that the attitude persists today.
See you tomorrow.
Steve.
