I am with Fred regarding pantyhose and tights as I find them a pain. I got through last winter wearing mini skirts, with the aid of long socks on really cold days. I wore a tweed mini skirt with burgundy socks to one dinner outing, but not plaid with pink I am sorry to say.

Pics will be issued.

As promised, my St. Andrew's Day office outfit before I started the Highland Flop, the ancient Scots dance for the folk with two left feet.
BTW, this is a SKIRT, it is not a "Kilt" by definition!
Steve.

Coulda fooled me - tartan pattern - kilt pin - sporran - red hose mock sox - attempting something akin to a highland jig - - -
Who says when you wear the kilt you got to wear it formally with all the bells buzzers whistles etc. ?

I suppose on St Andrew's Day anything goes.

The anorak dominates everything, the kilt is a kilt is a kilt, but I presonally wouldn't have gone for pink down there. To keep out the cold I might have just used normal black or grey kilthose, possibly flesh-coloured tights that wouldn't show, so to speak.

Not an anorak, it is a Jacobite or ghillie shirt.
The tights are the colour that they are,
Anything goes, any day as far as I am concerned.
Say what you will, I am wearing a skirt or maybe a kilted skirt at a push.
It simply and definitely not a "Kilt"!
Ironically, as it is a checked cloth, wrap around construction with pleats, the world and his dog agree with you.
Thus, endowing it with a degree of invisibility usually reserved for denim or worse, trousers.
For all of that, I don't actually care, I wear what I like, when I like and how I like.
One disappointment, nobody mentioned my devilishly handsome features.
Steve.

On reflection, Dennis, that has likely been the wisest comment of all.
Good advice for the faint hearted.
Steve.

Thank you Steve, a sense of humour is an invaluable asset along with the courage to actually use it.

BTW Dennis
Nobody seemed to notice the fetching accessory on my right leg.
That expression on the mug is pained misery or heroic stoicism, take your pick.
Steve.

You mean that black smudge? Looks like a knee brace or leg warmer something.

Knee brace it is, and the knee is bloody sore.
Even worse, I just could not get one to match the skirt or the tights, such a hardship you know!

Sorry to bounce this older topic, I’ve read it in the past that the King wore ‘Flesh’ coloured tights with his shortish kilt on his pioneering visit to Scotland, I wonder if the ‘pink tights’ thing was being pushed for a cheap headline? Not that I find anything wrong with pink or indeed any shade of hosiery.
I’ve always thought that opaque tights would look good with a kilt, black, navy, bottle green or burgundy would go well with most tartans.
I do remember about 25 years ago, Scottish journalist Tom Morton writing about seeing an older chap in full daytime highland dress wearing beige/tan tights under his hose & not being too impressed with it. A bit unfair perhaps as maybe this gent had to wear support stockings/tights?

No, it is a fact that he wore tights.
Pink is probably an accurate description because the dying technology of the day would never have come near realistic flesh tones.
The whole thing was cynically choreographed to rub the Scots noses in the dirt following their defeat at Culloden in 1745.
It was also the onset of all the hype and utter nonsense that surrounds the kilt as we know it today.
Probably the most legally profitable con trick ever perpetrated on a nation which evolved to reach pretty much all over the world and even goes on today.
Note there is no factual, historical or cultural connection with the Scottish nation and a modern kilt, it is fundamentally a myth.
Steve.

I wore a Red & Green kilt with Red & Green Tights (Red Leg & Green Leg) to a holiday party last December.
