I found this news, WARNING that it has a bias, and seems to focus on a specific subculture of some sort that also includes 8-inch heels. http://www.thesleuthjournal.com/fashion ... s-dresses/ The pic is cool, mostly, but....the heels ain't for me!

In a couple of shots a model was wearing a white above the knee miniskirt, which along with the jacket, sort of looked as if he wore white boxer shorts and forgot to put his trousers on. :D

And again the designer has to come up with a look that is jarring to the eyes.

At least the idea of men wearing skirts is still alive.

Agreed, these are pretty bizarre.

I must tell you, though, that I've been collecting photos of men in skirts on Pinterest, and in the "Designer" category alone I now have hundreds of them. It's remarkable how many designers seem to be showing men in skirts, and how many years that's been going on. It's enough to make me wonder if every designer feels they need to show at least a few men-in-skirts looks in every show, just to keep up.

I doubt if anyone's actually buying those designs, though. For one thing, they're pretty far out. And for another, you never see them anywhere but the runway or in staged photo shoots.

So why would a designer plan, construct, and show styles they know will probably never sell? It must be for the offbeatedness and the audacity, which carry over to the designer's overall reputation.

But whatever's going on, at least it's getting men-in-skirts into the public eye. I just hope the outlandish designs don't communicate the whole idea of men wearing skirts is equally outlandish.

I don't care for any of them. I'll stay with the type of skirts that I wear. Hey, but at least its getting the "idea" out there.

I'm still trying to figure out where they get the eight inch heels part of the title. The highest heel I see in the photos might be 2 inches at the most.

Maybe the heel height might have been 8 cm, and not 8 inches (20 cm).

I have no interest in high heels, but I like the attitude.

I just looked through the Vogue Thorn Browne fashions. My immediate thoughts were that most of the skirted and dress looks were OK with a couple of duds. The Trouser looks by and large were just plain Hideous with a couple of OK looks. I'd actually wear most of the skirts in the photos but only 1 or 2 of the trouser looks if that.

When looked at from his point of view heels come into the same category as skirts - they, in themselves, don't have gender. We impose gender on them by classing them as female only wear. Call them unisex or whatever and that's what they are. I can't say that I could persuade MOH of this though. I do have some and wear them occasionally around the house when MOH isn't around. The low heels are comfortable but they take some getting used to walking in. Not convinced about the higher heels. I bought them all when we both thought that to wear a skirt you had to go the whole hog. Now that we know you don't, you can pick and choose what to wear, I may try and see what she feels about them.

I do like the leather skirt he was wearing.
