London Fashion Week 2013
London Fashion Week 2013
Right up there in poll position on 'der Spiegel's Fotostrechen today is this pic. of a red skirt and apparently matching jacket modelled for Top Man as part of a male fashion expose involving many fashion houses. They show thirteen pics, none of the others showing anything unbifurcated, alas.

I dug out another pic. I can't see that there'll be a stampede of orders for this.

It's an outfit that is wearable though.
Lose the shoulder straps on the jacket,
swap the polo neck for a normal white/black shirt/top,
swap the boots for shoes and long socks,
and you have a recognisable (if bright) kilt outfit.

It's amazing how fashion houses have to include irrelevant appendages like those jacket straps and nose clips on other male models.
The jacket is too long and shapeless for my eyes, but the kilt, even in block red would be OK by itself. The poloneck is ghastly too.

Not quite a skirt, admittedly in any of the pictures, but what was Craig Green thinking of in this?

Putting a few planks of wood in a random fashion in front of someone's face! Makes Elton John's spectacles look remarkably conservative. I quite like the outfit on the right minus the facial ornamentation. The shock value is amply displayed here.

I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

That's the catwalk. I'd wear the red "kilt" with my own accoutrements. However, I doubt if I could ever afford it.
Not a winner, but who knows, unless you've actually tried it?
Steve.

Stevie,
A man such as you with some experience of commissioning unique items of clothing could of course get a red kilt made up nae bother at all, and probably a sight cheaper than the one on the catwalk. Come to think of it, your nukilt would go down a storm at a fashion show. Can you do the gaunt and miserable look that all the models display?

Maybe the aim is to make the skirt look remarkably conservative!Sinned wrote:Putting a few planks of wood in a random fashion in front of someone's face! Makes Elton John's spectacles look remarkably conservative.

Hmmm, so fashion now can include gluing someone's nose to a broken fence huh? Quite remarkable!

Re: London Fashion Week 2013
Hmmm...
We all say that men in skirts on the catwalk are a good thing, even if the designer has included trousers under the skirt. Then when something utterly bizarre comes along, we all dismiss it as something done to get a reaction. Maybe most people put the men's skirts in the same category as the face-fence. Do these fashion shows really make anybody think that men's skirts are OK?

No,no & no!!!! They (the fashion designers), are still in freak show mentality, which is obvious when one can get perfectly suitable and PRACTICAL garments that are suitable for a bloke, from the charity shops and eBay. I must get the headbanging smiley from Skip's site.skirtyscot wrote: Do these fashion shows really make anybody think that men's skirts are OK?

I saw this from the saem fashion week. I will put my neck out and say I like the look of some of these outfits but I have to admit that I probably won't get away with wearing these outfits, to be honest!!!

Re: London Fashion Week 2013
We've seen some strange outfits in the fashion shows, but those frilly shorts and boots have taken us to new depths pointlessness.
I wonder why the designers even bother, since they are not going to sell any of this stuff (except to a few women, maybe) and are unlikely to make huge profits from their designs. There are already 101 wearable styles available (1001 looking back a few centuries), things that have actually been worn and were practical for day-to day life. Why bother to produce "new" stuff that will, I'm sure, never sell?
