Hello from The Netherlands

Hello fellow skirters and kilter,

after a few weeks being member of this forum I decided this would be a good moment to introduce myself to this forum and its members.

I am John form the Netherlands, and live in the province South-Holland near Rotterdam and The Hague.
As you may have noticed I just use my actual name and added "_NL" to it.

I have been wearing skirts (and dresses) for some time, even before I met my wife some 20 years ago. At that time I started merely "cross-dressing" within the gender-community in the Netherlands. Finally I did not feel comfortable any more and as I started liking PVC and latex-clothing as well, I changed merely to the BDSM-scene. Here I could just wear (PVC and latex) skirts and dresses being a man, and not as "transvestite".

At this time I am married to a nice lady, who actually does not approve of my wearing skirts and dresses. However I am still trying to get her approval of wearing (read buying and wearing) a proper kilt. I do not know when this is going to happen, but any holiday in Scotland would do.

I am also (a reading and sometimes participating) member of the Dutch forum http://www.rokvoormannen.nl (sorry dutch only) and the German forum (http://www.rockmode.de).

Further on I do play with Marklin-trains and I like to travel (preferably by train as well).

Greetings, John_NL.

welcome John.

Funnily enough a lot of us skirt wearers are also interested in railways - both model and full size

I myself have worked for the railway industry all my life

I model British 00 and American H0

All the best

Nick

Hi and welcome! I don't do the model train thing, but spend an awful lot of time on a train simulator on my PC. It keeps me happy for hours.

Hi John_NL and :welcome:

I model (dabble is the correct word) in G, S, HO & N scales.
Also working on an N-Scale Traction layout. It has 'live'
over-hear wire for the trolly. I can 'flip-a-switch' and go
back to 2 rail power. to run a non-converted trolly. I currently
use the PCC trollies and looking at the Brill for a conversion.

Just set up a temporary 5' X 8' G-Scale oval to test out my
"New-to-me" Southern RR. Swanee River Special. I've added
a full baggage and coach car to the original set. Thus I have
Engine(Ten Wheeler), Tender(with Chuff sound), Baggage,
Combine, Coach and Observation cars. The train is about 10' long.

Will be "fun" building the outdoor layout for it, and a matching(in
length) freight train. I'm planning on a 18' X 18' "L" shaped layout
similar to -> -> -> ->
G-Scale General Layout Shape - no track - 2012-12-31.jpg
2 Trains running in opposite directions, 1 at a time, same track.
Will have twin-tracks "In-Town" but switched down to single
track "In-Country". Pictures will follow but not until late 2013.

From the other side of the planet, where trains are (mis)managed by various state and federal governments, I also bid you a warm :welcome:

For those who are interested, there is a tracking site of the Dutch railways: http://www.kubus.mailspool.nl

Get hold of Mugman (Pete), He's got a whole garden full of gorgeous scale-model railways.

Hell guys,

thanx for all your enthusiast reactions.
I did not want to create an"off-topic" model railroad item, but apparently there seems to be a lot of common interest.

@ janrok,
I allready supposed you would be the "jan" from "rokvoormannen"-forum.

CU, John
