Sightings "in the wild"
Re: Sightings "in the wild"
I was out in my skirt today and on way home with wife driving we past a bloke in a full length goth dress, he had clearly been to a local village fate. I am quite annoyed that my wife did not stop or turn around so I could have grabbed a pic of both of us together. It would have been grate him in goth dress and me in skater mini skirt, such missed opportunity.

i was out last night in a full length goth dress ... but i can say that it definitely wasn't me you saw today as i live in the city and we don't get many village fates in the centre of Leedshairy wrote:I was out in my skirt today and on way home with wife driving we past a bloke in a full length goth dress, he had clearly been to a local village fate. Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Any one here wear white socks with a light blue marijuana leaf design on them? I saw them on a (ahem) mature gentleman wearing an ankle length print skirt about 1:30PM today. I just happened to see him a few steps in front of me as we walked up Third Street between Mission and Market. I don't know if anyone else even noticed.

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Just went out for a sandwich for lunch (I am in Edinburgh today) and saw a dark-skinned fellow walking towards me wearing a black jacket and a dark grey UK with black kilt hose socks. He looked great!
I smiled at him as I was walking past him and he smiled back nodding his head in acknowledgement.

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Saw a guy in a colorful patterned sarong, or possibly a tube-skirt, I complimented him on it, and we talked a bit. I was dressed more "conventionally", he had the advantage for the mosquitoes (as I was in shorts). It was at an outdoor concert in someone's back yard, by a pair of train tracks (only one "train" came past, it was actually just two locomotives)

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Just back from holiday (Greek beach - virtually all nudist) and saw quite a few men wearing sarongs at the beach lunch bar (Including myself with MOH's acceptance at least
)
I also saw one man wearing a tartan kilt (and sporran) at the same bar on 3 separate occasions.
I spoke to him on the second of those occasions saying, "I like the idea of a kilt on the beach!" to which he acknowledged and thanked me for the comment. I then asked him if he wasn't too hot wearing it (temperature around 32deg C) and he said it was really quite cool. (It wasn't a full 8 yard kilt but more a lightweight 5-yard one of thinner material)
On the third occasion, another lady at an adjoining table gave a complementary comment and she asked whether he shouldn't just wear the sporran. He laughted and confirmed that he would need a bigger one!
I also saw him again after lunch stripping off for some more sunbathing and it is true about what is (or isn't) worn below the kilt!

I was in Vancouver the other day and saw a young guy with his girlfriend wearing a loose skirt and top, it was a quick passing I was tried to see if it was one dress or skirt and matching top. His girlfriend was wearing a complimenting outfit and they were enjoying the day. A first for sure.

Aye so many missed opportunities - Yet you now know that they (I mean we) are out there and it is only a matter of time !
It is hard for one person to start a revolution but as more are inclined to make noteworthy exposure in the news and the media commenting
on the changing of men's wear from the dull mundane to a more vibrate carefree exposition it is only a matter of time before it becomes the norm.
World wasn't made in a day - and the Lord has a good home !
It is not a miracle but it is happening slowly.

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Saw a guy in Islington, London in an A Line skirt, it wasn't a kilt, walking around with his friends, no one else seemed fazed by it, and later on in another part of the West End of London, a guy in a denim pencil skirt walking towards Baker Street station, quite a few people about, but didn't observe many obvious reactions to either... Perhaps people aren't so shocked any more by men in skirts... but in the recent Fashion Week most of the designers are sending men down the catwalk in a skirt of some sort, even if some of them look like the sort no one in their right mind would wear
Zara UK still sells a skirt for men, even if at this stage it's a pointless looking bit of material sewn onto a pair of trousers

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Well, I saw a man in a dress today but I think that doesn't count because I believe he is part of a drag show that's to be held today (no I usually don't go to drag shows, I just happened to be in the coffeehouse minding my own business). He was wearing a long blonde wig and high heels and the whole nine yards. I saw him outside and until he came in and started talking to the barista I thought he was a woman. Btw, I hope everybody's not mad at me for a silly comment I made (and deleted) without thinking in another thread!

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
As a "sighting", this does not really rate, just worth recording, in case?
Simply put, I was returning to the office earlier this week, lunch over and passed a guy in a semi casual kilt outfit.
We exchanged a mutual nod, "taciturn we are", that was it.
I do wonder if that guy is around here somewhere?
Steve.

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Hi Steve, he's probably more likely to be on a kilt forum. But if you could find him there, perhaps suggest he joins Skirt Cafe, and widens his wardrobe to include skirts? !
I had been wearing tartan kilts casually (with T shirts, sandals etc. ) for many years, and been a member of X Marks the Scot, before I accidentally discovered this forum.
And then my wearing of skirts in public really took off, although I do still wear kilts sometimes.
My wife and I were passing St Andrew's House in Edinburgh recently and she said she saw a man with a pointy beard wearing an ankle length skirt. We were in a bus and were passed before I had a chance to see him unfortunately.

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Well if anyone is going to the ale festival in Troon today and they see a big man in a green kilt and black polo shirt, it's me. Also featuring in a variety of trains, boats and buses while on route.

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Missed you, B&B, I was there on Friday. Straight from work and rather overdressed for the occasion! The only kilt I saw was on a barman. Looked very comfortable to wear as the evening wore on and the hall heated up!
Mind-boggling quantities of nice beer there. Quite surprised to be in a fit state to catch the 7 o'clock ferry to Arran the next morning!

I swear, unless I need to go back to Argentina, my next overseas trip is the British Isles and Ireland. I need to experience you guys!
(But am also considering Cuba, Panama, and Costa Rica)
