From personal experience, having been in both a fully-drenched skirt and, later the same day, fully-drenched trousers, the skirt was vastly more comfortable.

Sometimes, if you've got the privacy and it's warm enough, it's easier to doff whatever you have on, do the outdoor task and then go back inside and towel off.

After a rather protracted absence, I'm back and getting out into the big bad world again.
I've had a set back in my skirted journey but that's a tale for another time and place.
Strangely, it's rather refreshed my view of being in the public eye. There were no reactions, good or bad, that I was aware of.
Definitely no comments and I rather enjoyed that.
In context, I was in Aberdeen city centre at lunch time doing "errands", just being me on a lunch break.
Stranger still, work still provides the best support for me to wear a skirt that I can currently hope for.

Well yesterday was a day out, over to Falkirk college for 3 exams, then to the best fish and chips emporium I know at Bridge of Allan. All while wearing black kilt hose and my knee length cargo denim Midas skirt. No comments all day, hardly a look, not even at the college where I thought groups of "yoofs" might express opinions. A lot of rain though, I was wishing I had worn a longer skirt, or even taken the rain kilt.

Below is what I wore on a brief outing yesterday. While standing in line at a store to buy a newspaper, a twentysomething woman complimented me on my tights and said I looked normal in my skirt. I have to say it's always a treat when openminded people compliment me on my attire.

Interesting because who would interrupt you to say, "You look normal in those pants," or shoes, or hat, or jacket, or whatever?

I suppose she actually meant, "surprisingly normal," or, "acceptable," or, "all right," but I wonder if you said something first that prompted her.

Nope, didn't say a thing. I was just standing in line waiting to buy a newspaper when she initiated the conversation. I never go out of my way to elicit comments or conversation while out and about, I just go about my business like everyone else. But I do have people approach me from time to time, I'll never forget how several years ago, I was leaving a bookstore when a couple of thirtysomething guys gushed over a denim maxi I was wearing.

I get the same sort of thing: people (usually women) remark, "Nice kilt," or, "I like your kilt," or whatever, and I'm sure they'd never have commented, "Nice pants," or the like.

Of course I get questions too, like the inevitable,"Are you Scottish?" (No but I drank some once) or, "Where can I buy one of those?"

But I never had anyone comment, "Wow, you look normal." Odd, eh?

The important thing is that she gave you your freedom, your space, and her acceptance.

That she did. Admittedly, it's rare when people do engage me in conversation, so the compliment I got from her was mildly surprising, but welcome nonetheless.

Tonight we are off for a film "The Invisible Woman" and I am again in black, wearing a knee length pinstripe skirt, black tights, black sweater, black Sanita clogs.

Sunday last. I went to our local flee market bought myself my first skirt, its a denim mini skirt. Size 32 waist and 14 inch long.
Put it on this morning for the first time and went to the gym, got into the gym and changed into my shorts. When I was finished went to get showered and changed. If you thinks its difficult to go out wearing a skirt for the first time, try getting changed in the locker room with all those guys getting changed into pants and shorts and you put on skirt, then see the double takes you get,
Will post a pic when i take one.

   Way-hay - way to go!

I have changed into a Utilitikilt in the locker room (after curling) but not yet tried wearing an actual skirt. The UK was generally ignored except for the "Special occasion?" query - to which I replied simply "No, just felt like a change!" and that was fine. 8) On some cold nights I had on a pair of ladies tights under the work trousers but no-one commented on that either when I changed to my curling ones (trousers that is).

I can well imagine the looks you'd be getting and well done to you for going for it and breaking the mold! 8)

Look forward to seeing the pics too.

Back many years ago when I lived in yorkshire I was a truck mechanic, in winter time when I had to go fix broken trucks up in the hills and moors I also wore women's tights (under my overalls), they are the only thing that kept me warm.

I was out and about in the world at large and walked two consecutive days about 6km in my new Macabi Skirt and changed between the standard configuration and the short skirt configuration. :D It is really comfortable going commando all the time. Thanks to the drawstring and the elastic waistband, I can adjust it to compensate minor weight gain or loss. Except some funny faces and some cackling, I haven't experienced any negative reaction yet. If you are relaxed and confident in your own skin, people's opinions and reactions ain't got power over you. :D It is a midnight blue regular XL. I ordered one size down. :D Now, I have no excuse anymore not to embrace the skirt every day, cuz I can turn it into trousers to ride my bicycle or would anyone of you suggest a loin cloth? :P

Went to the Azalea Festival street fair this afternoon in nearby Wilmington, wearing my purple Columbia "waterskirt" with a tie-dyed t-shirt that matched very well, and Chaco sandals. It was a gorgeous day; sunny and around 80F with a gentle breeze, lots of people but not uncomfortably crowded. I had a cup of Cherry Garcia and a red wine slushee, then spent way too much money on stuff I didn't need. :D I saw no reactions to my clothing, and relative to some stuff people were wearing, I felt rather plainly dressed. I saw no other skirted or kilted men, but did see a Captain Jack Sparrow look-alike in pirate garb. It made me think a moment of Carl. Just kidding, Carl.
