Re: Sightings "in the wild"
I've just spotted a video from Chippenham Folk Festival which includes two men in kilts and one in trousers who normally wears a kilt.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQbR-UZF09w
From 0:42, in the background between the clarinettist and the melodian player you can see me in a kilt doing the P.A. for the event; I am talking to the ceilidh organiser, who normally wears kilts but was in trousers on this occasion. At 1:00 on the extreme left, you see Gordon Potts, the caller, wearing his Utilikilt. None of us is Scottish; we all wear kilts because they are practical, comfortable and fun to dance in.

There is no such thing as a normal person, only someone you don't know very well yet.

You were riding a pushbike naked? Or was that a Harley?

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Speaking of comments, I got a very nice one from a complete stranger this morning as I was in Boston and headed to lunch before going sailing. The rig was my new pair of purple palazzo pants (yes, I said purple), a very vivid red waistcoat, white dress shirt, black shoes, and black tights (it can get chilly out on the water).crfriend wrote:My skirts have drawn plenty of positive comments in the past, and my new palazzo pants did a few days ago; this means I'm on a positive trajectory and I'm not going to look back.
The comment: "Looking good!" with a thumbs-up gesture.
The main point here is that I've gotten so used to my own sense of style -- and in the execution of same -- that I am utterly comfortable with it, and that shows through. I'm not cocky by any means, but when I actually stand up straight and hold my head high -- which I am more likely to do when I'm not in camouflage-mode -- I must make for a rather impressive sight.

I would hazard a guess that there would be very few sailors in the world out in that "rig".
I can just imagine them in the Americas Cup..
In fact I reckon a sure winner as the opposing team boggled and lost the plot!

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Yesterday in a supermarket in Calahonda, southern Spain, a man in an orange sarong. The shop was quite busy and he was not all that near me, but he stood out by a mile. Far more than the denim knee-length skirt I was wearing at the time. As far as I could tell, neither of us were turning heads, but then, as usual I wasn't checking to see people's reactions to me!
Keep on skirting,

In Indonesia on feastdays many man and woman wear a sarong. Yes indeed, the same clothes for man and woman.
In Europe, we have still a long way to go until man and woman wear the same clothes !
Here myself in one of my sarongs (this is from Bali)

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
I try to do that.
This black one is a Joseph Klotz from Mittenwald, Austria. Seventeenth centurie.
The ligther example is a Wolff, number 194 from her production series of 1898.
I don't like to play the Wolff. The Kloz has his own radiation.

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Tangiers, Morocco, last Thursday. Bazillions of men in djellabas. It is perfectly normal.
Mind yo u, I'm not sure what they'd have made of a man in a skirt, if I had been wearing one.

Shame on you for not trying to find the answer to that one!skirtyscot wrote: Mind yo u, I'm not sure what they'd have made of a man in a skirt, if I had been wearing one.
I can tell you, I turned more heads and provoked more comments, questions and mirth in Morocco than anywhere else I have been.
Hope you enjoyed the visit in spite of the cloth between your legs !
