Out and About -- In the World at Large
Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
This is a conflict for me as well. I enjoy seeing how people react to me but there's still some fear of being ridiculed (although I never have been).
Courage, conviction, nerve, verve, dash, panache, guts, nuts, balls, gall, élan, stones, whatever. Get some and get skirted.

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
Indeed, B&B. I spent most of the journey in twin states of apprehension and disappointment.
The train was probably a relatively benign place to be. Outside walking from the bar to the station was a more likely place for some sort of unpleasant remark, or worse, from a bunch of drunken neds. But that didn't happen, largely because I was wearing my black knee-length coat done up against the wind and rain, so my skirt was not on view. In the dark and the rain my tights were hardly noticeable to people as I passed by.

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
I remember in Deepest Darkest Glasgow in the middle of the day walking past groups of older schoolkids, expecting to get " a ribbing". Not a comment.
Only really negative comment I have had (different time, different place) wasn't to me at all. A group were sitting in the cockpit of a yacht as I got back to the boatyard in my khaki Macabi. As I was stripping down the dinghy and stowing it in the car I heard something along the lines of "Is that a dress" and some laughter. If that is as bad as it gets then I won't worry!

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
I suppose I shouldn't post, since I didn't wear a skirt anywhere off my own property today, but for a reason. Operating a chain saw is a job for well-fitting trousers. But I am well on my way to my goal of three cords of oak, cut, split, and stacked. That will supplement my heating for two winters.
For now, I am showered and back in a skirt. This one is new but soon to be a favorite, I think. It is by ExOfficio, and not a cargo skirt, but an outdoor style, with decent hand pockets and two additional zippered pockets.
Anyway, I am relaxing with my evening glass of Scuppernong wine and a few bits of Parrano cheese, awaiting supper. It was a good day.

Well I have done most of my Christmas shopping in a kilt and no comments, a few smiles and a few looks and that is all.

Well, I didn't go out, but I wore the plaid (diagonal) wool skirt at the GF's parents place while I was up there for Christmas. Completely accepted. Nice to be able to be myself around them. They seem to be fully approving of me as a partner for their daughter.

And more people knowing. It was only one, a female co-worker, she came back with my GF after a trip out and they found me shovelling snow. "Is that your kilt? Awesome!" My response, "You could call it that I suppose." We went in and had hot chocolate, nothing else was said, caught a couple of looks at my legs, but that was more the opaque stockings I think, (she probably assumed tights) I don't know. From her, this may now start circulating at work, we'll see.

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
I had an appointment in a coastal town east of here today, and following that I spent the late afternoon skirted at a State Park on the beach, in the purplish Pr'ana skirt, black leggings, blue Chacos, and a gray hoodie. There were a few folks around, since it was a warm day; a few wet-suited surfers, a couple fishermen, some walkers and shell collectors like me. It was a bit cloudy but the sun peeked through often enough to facilitate finding the tiny, shimmering, translucent, and oh so fragile "jingles" that I use for making ear rings. I had a few odd looks, but no comments. As I was walking the half-mile or so back down the beach, I encounered three women walking, all wearing the most drab and unappealing warm-ups imaginable. I just wanted to shake my head at the irony. Women earned the social liberty to dress as they please, in any style of fashion, yet they ignore the social luxury we envy. Instead of exhorting and exploiting their privelege of expression in clothing, they take it for granted, ho-hum. Well, I suppose that too is part of liberty. Of course, if my fashion sense didn't set me apart, perhaps I too would lose interest?

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
Heading ou with the wife to see the documentary film "Muscle Shoals" ia a few minutes. Tonight I am in my Columbia Titanium skirt. It is a rich chocolate brown, and made of a wonderful soft and stretchy synthetic. With it I have on brown ribbed tights, a tan sweater, and the tan Keen sneakers that skirtyscot loved so well.
The skirt hem falls about an inch or two below my knees.

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
Yesterday the snow was melting, but still 6 inches many places. My wife and I took a walk through the woods and on some steep banks that go down to a creek. I wore my mid-calf length denim skirt, tall rubber boots over regular sneakers, and a light coat. We went through some fairly rough brush; maybe the most bushwhacking I've done in a skirt. A beautiful day.

That movie looks interesting Dillon, how was it? Also, which Prana skirt were you talking about? I have access to that brand and have considered some of their skirts.

The Prana skirt is called the Dahlia, and it was priced cheap on 6pm.com when I bought it. Sadly, I didnt find either that color or the discount price on their website today. The film was excellent, loaded with interviews and old footage of amazing music being made. Not sure there was anything revelatory or surprising in it, but lots of R&R, R&B, and country-rock history. The amount of legendary rock that came out of those studios was amazing.

Heading out to another documentary this evening; "Betty Page Reveals All". I'll wear a long skirt tonight, as my wife gets sarcastic when I wear anything shorter than ankle-length and I am in no mood to bicker tonight.

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
The film was quite interesting, even uplifting, I could say. I ended up wearing my navy blue ruched XCVI (very long) skirt over black leggings, warm navy socks, navy Bastaadt clogs, with a black sweater on top. That skirt is probably the "frilliest" one I own, but damn if it doesn't look good!

My infection is clap......
Well as the weather was wet and windy here in Aberdeenshire last night I donned a ankle length denim skirt, shirt tie and thick jacket and went down to the local Chinese takeaway to collect a meal for two.
As usual on a staturday night it was busy, and George ( as he is known by ) was training up a new counter assistant I joined the line and waited chatting to a couple of folk I know. When it was my turn George and I greeted each other as usual in Chinese, turning to the somewhat bemused assistant George announced " Mr Dottie been coming here many long years, see he speaks ok but his his infection is clap " Oh well that made us all laugh and cheered up a foul weathered evening.
Did I mention I wore a long skirt ??
