From experience, things get a bit weird at the upper end of the scale, and it's sometimes best to use EUR sizing rather than US or UK sizing (where the +1.5 seems correct). For instance, I ordered a pair recently that was a US 14 and the thing was also labelled EUR 33. It turns out I need a EUR 34, so I was out of luck on that order.

The way I do it, is to use European sizing where male and female sizing is the same, since the scale is linked to the actual length of the last. (foot shaped mould they make the shoe on) and therefore your foot length. So for my feet they are a 42 European which is a UK 9, US womans 12, US mens 10.

Some boots I bough from China, the internal foot length was quoted, so knowing your actual foot length is also useful.
Of course the best way is to try shoes/boots on, but some styles you will not find on the normal high street.

Sticking with Metric sizing is best however many shoes are not give in metric sizing.
In the US its Men's + 2 = Womens sizing. It seems when it comes to vanity sizing the actual size will vary brand to brand. The majority of heels in my closet are La Damne brand which went out of business about 5 years ago. There was a US Brand that built shoes on Men's Sized last so I could order a size 13 ballet flat an it would fit.

The best I can tell, it's 1 size, and 1 width. So a men's 11 is a women's 12 wide.

I've certainly had some comments from women about how well I walk in heels and that they find it difficult. There was also a women who asked whether I could drive in the pair of boots I was wearing at the time - I could.

These are available in sizes up to UK11 - Euro 45 - 29.5 cm foot length in white or black. The heel is so wide it is easy to walk in, but gives you 3" of extra height and the look of something different.
I have the black.
I wore them to the meet-up we had in Spoons the other month, and got compliments about them from the women who took our photo.
Just an idea!

Thanks Mouse, do like the look of them, can see either the black or white ones fitting in quite well with my existing clothes.
The all black leather platform heel on their website also looks good.

Yes they do. The coffee colour colour way also looks ok and is a change to the normal black. Coffee is a colour I do not have in my collection.

Ooo I like that Western Glam one, but it doesn't come in my size
I've been searching for a heeled leather boot in a men's size 12. Not much available.
