Will young men ever wear skirts?
Re: Will young men ever wear skirts?
I have worn shorts with both black and suntan hose in the past. with little or no looks. now my wife...that's another story. now when I wore my skirt and my kilt last winter, I wore my black tights and got more looks for the kilt/skirt than the tights.

Now why isn't that picture seen as normal? the only other similar picture I can think of was the Helensburgh private school which had kilts as the uniform. No longer though.

Great picture! I had heard that there is a school in Edinburgh (specifically James Gillespies) that, since 2007, has introduced kilts as an option for their school uniform for boys and girls - so hopefully more schools will take up the mantle and run with it!

I spent some time reading that forum a few years back. It a good place to send men who are afraid to be seen wearing PH and their SO, to learn PH are only clothes.Hemitom wrote:I have worn shorts with both black and suntan hose in the past. with little or no looks. now my wife...that's another story. now when I wore my skirt and my kilt last winter, I wore my black tights and got more looks for the kilt/skirt than the tights.

They have a very resistive policy; no mention of skirts, even UK's are barely tolerated, no mention of jewelry anything that is even tinged with being fem. That includes your username/signature line. And now for hypocrisy side the men on that site are into shorts from mens below the knee cargo shorts, Bermuda, to the really short shorts from the womens dept. After awhile it became apparent that any style outside of the "blessed" style was verboten. It is a herd who have chosen to add one piece of clothing to their wardrobe "Freeform" is not their style.
I like this site because the "group/herd" here has figured out it's only clothes. The rest is packaging and presentation, which is a personal/comfort thing.
As mentioned elsewhere I'm a PH user also; currently the compression kind.

The one in the middle wearing the red tie is also wearing a sporran. So what part of the African highlands is this?janrok wrote:Will young men ever wear skirts?

In reference to the Delphi forum, Legwear As Unisex Fashion [LAUF]...

I've been a member of LAUF for the last 10 years or so because I like wearing hose/tights as clothing. You're so right about them being restrictive. That's why I don't mention anything about my kilt and skirt wearing there.Brandy wrote: They have a very resistive policy; no mention of skirts, even UK's are barely tolerated, no mention of jewelry anything that is even tinged with being fem. I definitely agree, Brandy! I realize that I don't post much here but none the less, I like this site and its members!Brandy wrote: I like this site because the "group/herd" here has figured out it's only clothes. The rest is packaging and presentation, which is a personal/comfort thing.

Re: Will young men ever wear skirts?
After reading almost everything there is to know about the reason why males are for bitten to wear anything that resembles a skirt/kilt without being crucified for doing so...I have yet to come to a good enough reason not to. just my ranting...carry on!!!
Re: Will young men ever wear skirts?
I have been wearing skirts and kilts since my teenage years and am now late 20s. Admittedly it started wearing a kilt at a wedding in Scotland but even here it takes a brave person to wear a kilt for a stroll along the street or a non tartan kilt of any kind. I wear skirts as well, but not feminine ones.

...do you mean in Scotland? If so, please elaborate. I was hoping to pay a visit up there this year, and maybe with a kilt in tow...plain, as I have no clan connections. I ask only because I bruise easily....even here it takes a brave person to wear a kilt for a stroll along the street or a non tartan kilt of any kind.

I may not see a kilt every day or even every week on the streets of Glasgow, but a tartan one is an utterly unremarkable thing to see and little bravery is called for! A plain one might get the odd comment but I reckon you'd still be OK.skirted84 wrote:I have been wearing skirts and kilts since my teenage years and am now late 20s. Where do you wear your skirts? I put the people of Glasgow to the test by changing stations at 11pm on a Friday while wearing a skirt, and escaped with my life (to the surprise of Mrs SS). But I'm still not sure it was a good idea!
