Here is a photo of the sunset from my "micro-deck" on the Winter Solstice a week ago. Click on image for two stages of zoom.

It is hot and sunny in Sweden also. We are expecting colder weather and rain but the last 1,5 weeks has been really hot.

Duncanville, TX - Southwest of Dallas---
3:40PM the current temp is 101.7 F which is down
from 103 F at 12:45 PM Central Daylight Time.
I have not been watering the yard lately and I have
cracks in the ground that I could, almost, put my
hand in and not touch the sides.
I will be starting a traveling sprinkler on the west
side of my house. I would use 'the system' but one
of the heads needs to be replaced. In this heat I
don't want to be outside digging to repair it.

Re: How's the weather in your area?
The sun came out today for what seems to be the first time in several weeks. I suspect that there will be more than a few newborns who will experience abject horror at the large flaming ball in the sky.
Yesterday brought well over an inch of rain to us, and pretty well made a mess of our basement. This is fairly typical, so we're just used to it. Fortunately, the pumps kept up, unlike the ones on the Titanic.
Sapphire will disagree -- for perfectly valid reasons -- but I am so ready for summer. Mud season has lasted long enough, and I want to break out the miniskirts!

Hey,
I broke out the skimpy dresses, floaty skirts and sandals a while ago.
60F is fine by me!
I get heat stroke rather easily and am dreading 90F weather with 72 dewpoint.
Uncle Al, I don't know how you have been able to survive the recent heatwave. I'd be looking for a nice freezer to crawl into.

Horrible here, strong south westerly wind and a maximum temperature of 12 celsius but a wind chill factor of zero. Even though it is clear and sunny, there is nowhere outside you can go to get out of the wind, as it gusts round corners saying "Aha, so there you are, cop this!"

Re: How's the weather in your area?
Finally, it's absolutely beautiful out. At the moment, it's 80 degrees (F) by the thermometer on the back porch (which reads a bit high by virtue of its location), the sun is shining brightly, and it's not humid in the least so we can actually breathe. If it could stay like this for another several weeks I'd be one happy camper.
Sapphire is hanging out in a really cute halter top and shorts, and I'm lounging around in a dorm shirt (a very lightweight nightshirt; it looks like a very casual mini-dress) -- perfect clothes for perfect weather.
In another hour or so, I get to start getting dressed for going out to dinner and haven't the faintest notion of what I'm going to do, but I promised my dear wife that I'd "doll up".
