What did *you* wear "out and about" today? part2
Nicely put together outfit Chris!
Yesterday skirt, I went to the mall: navy turquoise "poor boy" sweater, navy tights and turquoise knee socks. I think I may have been the only woman at the mall wearing a skirt.
We're going out for dinner tonight. I'll be wearing a gold lurex short sleeved sweater, red velvet skirt and a black sweater coat with a red and gold leaf pattern embroidered on the front.

New Orleans
No, you haven't missed anything. I have accepted a one-semester appointment as an Adjunct Professor at the University of New Orleans.
This provides the wintertime 'anchor' for our snow-bird lifestyle. During the summer months we live aboard our small yacht in the waters of Puget Sound, but we migrate south for the winter.
This is my first ever experience as a professor. I have not been in a university classroom since I graduated the University of Michigan 28 years ago. It has been challenging, but I think it's going to be quite fun as well.

Went out this morning for a bike ride in my usual cold-weather outfit: navy tights, black knee socks, navy over-the-knee skirt with 2 petticoats (thin
, I need some warmer knee-length ones), body suit, and jacket.
(Wondering if I should take and post a picture of this outfit someday.)
I thought it was above freezing, but then I looked out at the village reservoir and didn't see any ripples, so I think it must be iced over. I must be getting used to the cold, it didn't feel bad at all. Or maybe it was too cold to be damp.
(Yes, I'm crazy. But what did you expect -- I'm here, aren't I?)

Do to the fact that it's down right Cold here, I'm wearing support P-hose,
Over-the-calf support hose, long sleeve shirt, and Tr***ers. However,
prior to going out, I had on a brown twill a-line skirt instead of Tr***sers.
Wife came home for lunch-sick to her stomach. Went to Panera's for soup,
came home, and she went to bed. I went to get the license renewal for
the car. Now, it's back to the skirt and cleaning house. The kids are
coming to visit tomorrow. I guess I need to do Some Exercise--My Kilts
and Skirts are starting to shrink!

Denim Unionkilt (with my usual sweatshirt etc) yesterday evening to go to the superstore with my wife and daughter, and again most of today, including a long walk around the local area with my wife. I wore a woolly hat for the walk, as I am told that most of the body heat is lost through the head. It was cold weather, but I felt warm enough.
One day I may try to find courage to wear the kilt for work.

Krewe of Tucks and Krewe of Iris
Wore my tartan kilt skirt again today, the same one that is pictured in my "Bead magnet" entry - and for the same reason!
Today we had a Mardi Gras party at the Department Chairman's house. Attended by other faculty and grad students, as well as the Dean of the College.
The Dean is a real bead-seeker, and he was very impressed at the bead-magnet effect of the skirt. I get a LOT of compliments in that rig.
Which leads to two other points:
Last night I was wearing my red skirted outfit (as depicted in the "Chris M" introduction thread.) As mardi gras draws nearer the tourists become more and more inebriated. Alcohol has the effect of reducing one's inhibitions, and this means that people say things that they would otherwise keep to themselves. Understand, alcohol doesn't CHANGE the opinions, it just makes one free-er to express them.
So as we strolled through The Quarter last night, we were both impressed at the MANY "nice kilt" "lookin' good" "sharp" comments. We stopped counting after the first half dozen.
Understand please also that this is not a fully traditional kilt, but a ladies skirt worn with slingback shoes, trouser socks, pantyhose because it's cold, and so forth. No sporran, ghillie brogues, flashes, or daggers.
And finally, returning to today, I had a new one: A lady came up to me and said "Where in Scotland are you from?" I was a wee bit taken aback, or I should probably have said "Los Angeles" or "Seattle", but I'm afraid I just looked confused instead. She did follow up with "or why are you wearing a kilt?" and I said "comfort" and the conversation took the path you might expect.
So there you go: That's what I wore out and about today and last night (two different but similar rigs) and those are the reactions I enjoyed therefrom.
All the best,
Chris

I went out again yesterday (Saturday), same outfit. I got up a little later than usual and put in a load of laundry before heading out to ride to the reservoir and back. When I came back and started hanging up my laundry, one of my neighbors came in to do her laundry. Part of me felt a little awkward, standing around in tights, knee socks, and a pleated skirt, but we had a nice conversation about kids and the local school district (one of my pet peevesAMM wrote:Went out this morning for a bike ride in my usual cold-weather outfit: navy tights, black knee socks, navy over-the-knee skirt with 2 petticoats (thin, I need some warmer knee-length ones), body suit, and jacket.

Last night, I went out Contra dancing in my rainbow skirt (see my pictures in the "Pics and Looks" section.) Someone had suggested I should wear rainbow socks with it, so I tried it last night. With the black dancing shoes, I think I looked a little like the Wicked Witch of the West from the knees down, but those who made any comments all thought it looked great.
This morning I got up even later (getting home at 1:00 a.m. will do that to you), put on my denim skirt (no socks) to pick up the laundry, and ran into the same neighbor. I think I'm becoming sort of a fixture at the complex, something to take for granted, like the ducks and geese in the duck poind.

Yesterday: Burgundy dress shirt, red waistcoat, reasonably-matched burgundy tiered skirt, off-white opaque tights and black dress shoes. I picked up a positively marvelous comment from a woman who claimed that it was always nice to see me and that she was a bit envious of "comfortable I look in my skin". I guess I'm a good actor.
Today: Pink dress shirt, my 1850s pattern waistcoat, black velvet skirt, black opaque tights, and black shoes. What can I say? I like black. I'm heading out to buy some beer in a couple of minutes with a quick stop at my local "watering hole" for some libations before things get stupid with the "Super Bowl" (I'm not much of a sports fan).
Tomorrow: Tr*users <spit>. It's back to work...

Retrocomputing -- It's not just a job, it's an adventure!
Went to Wal-Mart for my long overdue eye exam.
Wore a white long sleeved mockneck top, 19in.
denim a-line skirt, black microfiber tights and
black loafers. Topped off by a double-breasted
coat, black of course. Hey I like black too, besides
it goes good with denim. No one in the optical dept.
even noticed I was wearing a skirt (highly unlikely)
and if they did, showed no reaction, although the
eye Dr. may have been a bit suprised seeing a guy
in a skirt.

I have been trying to see which other web-sites I can get our message accross on. I know that many others of you are doing an excellent job in this way. Well done!
