Wearing headphones is a godsend when going out in public wearing skirts or dresses with tights as I go into a trance with the music while feeling sublime in my skirt and tights and totally unaware of any stupid remarks from bigoted narrow minded idiots passing by. I recommend anyone going out for the first time in public in a skirt to wear headphones. My favourite music to listen to while out in a skirt is ambient electronica as it makes me feel calm and confident.
I never listen to music while out and about, never have, I save that for the privacy of my home. I prefer to be focused and aware of my surroundings at all times when in public, and music is a distraction from that. I’ve seen too many people nearly get clipped or straight up hit by cars because they don’t hear horns honking or don’t pay attention to traffic while they’ve got earbuds in. Better to deal with whatever reactions that come your way than potentially put your safety at risk. Words can be ignored, a vehicle bearing down on you can’t.

When I am out and about, I NEVER listen to music as I like to maintain situational awareness.

Thanks to being on estradiol valerate for over 13 years, I don't look like a man in a dress, so I don't get negative remarks with the dresses I wear. I don't have much hair on my legs, and what little I have I can shave with Philips Norelco shaver.
