I'm a bit late with this, but no — I think the topic should stay in this sub forum. The advocacy sub-forum is for stuff reported in the news (that a lot people seem to forget about), which this thread isn't and "Off Topic" would make even less sense since the discussion is focused on skirts and male characters depicted wearing them in video games, and not the medium itself.
I should also mention that the "skirt/kilt" that Link wears after Tears of the Kingdom's opening minutes is actually part of just another tunic. I would've posted an image of this tunic, but I'm limited to just four attachments, so here's the alternative, instead. It's basically the same, with the added greaves and boots for warmth: I just wanted to clarify this confusion people have regarding Link's apparel because it wasn't that much different from decades ago, when people would often call Link's tunic a skirt — sometimes jokingly; sometimes with genuine ignorance.
What's funny is that there's a Zelda game on the 3DS with the subtitle: Triforce Heroes — a co-op Zelda game with up to three playable Links. The crux here is that there are a few standout outfits in the game that a Link can wear:
There's this Legendary Dress that's associate with the eponymous princess herself: There's an Ensemble that Link looks better in than the character who wears it herself: Saving the best for the last, we have Link dressed as a cheerleader. Yes, the outfit does include a skirt. It's one of the rare instances he actually rocks one, too, and it's a fan-favorite: There you have it. I wish I had more to give, but this took long enough as it did, and I've been busy with other things at the moment.
