We don't get any extra for working a Bank Holiday - it's just another day. We do get a fairly generous 15% off all purchases and twice a year there is a double discount couple of days that gives us 30%. So all I can say, as hard as that may seem, is welcome to the real world. Fortunately I don't work for ASDA but I applied to them twice and was turned down. I'm quite happy where I am. The terms and conditions may just be standard for our industry but the stores are still making profits and new stores are being opened. I expect that my job will be there for the next year or two but then I'm not really that worried as I am approaching retirement. So I have a different outlook on the situation. It's the youngsters that I feel sorry for.
