Well, You-tubes and CDs &c. are nice, but the 'full Monty' is irreplaceable.
On Sunday evening in the Adrian Bolt Hall, bang in the middle of Birmingham (England) I attended a concert given by the schools' brass band, the Academy percussion ensemble and the B'ham. Youth wind orchestra.

They combined for the finale to give a Christmas miscellany medley, with some 160 performers. I have to say I was enthralled by the sound they made and stunned by the standard of musicianship these teenagers have achieved. No need for amplification, for sure and I'm pleased to say that no actual structural damage was done to the roof of the building!

Being a youth event it was over quite early and we had time to dally a while over gluehweines in the Amazing German Market outside, discussing the concert.

How about Delius 'Sleigh Ride' set in the beautiful Norwegian mountains where they have real snow and real winters!
Delius was a great fan of Norway and even built a summer cabin there. For those who know Norway just imagine a moonlit sleigh ride over Dovrefjell to Hjerkin.

Couldn't agree more. I simply love Delius's music.

I've never heard of Frederick Delius before so I found this Sleigh Ride (Delius)
on YouTube. Exceptionally good :D

Well, musically it's all over bar the shouting for me for this Season. Three choral concerts done & dusted, a U3A musical Christmas party went off like clockwork with the help of several heavyweight musical contributions, so it'll be the usual fare from the Pipe Organ in two different churches on the 25th morning, 90 minutes apart, so I can travel the 7 miles between them easily.

Here's to all you regular posters on this Forum, & I'd recommend a tincture of the Barley, from whatever preferred source.
