Personally I prefer mid thigh to just above the knee. I have two pleated mini skirts that I wear on occasion and one ankle length that I wear on the chilly mountain mornings.

At this time of year definitely below the knee for me.
This black tailored skirt is a goodie.

Jack:
I lke the look in your photo. That's a good look. And the skirt length really makes it that much better.
:)
I wish the world would fall out of love with two things.
One is the micro-mini skirt, which only looks good on maybe one or two women in the entire world! In my oppinion of course. On most people it's just too much!
And number two is blue denim in any form. God help us! It's almost a uniform that everyone HAS to wear at every moment in our lives. I'm so tired of seeing this ugliest of all garments being worn by everyone out in pubic all the time.
I'd sooner see ten thousand cross dressers out in their finest. At least there would be some variety in the styles and colors they dress in. And maybe a little humor in what they show up wearing.
But the same dull, blue denim pants all the time, all day long, everwhere you look, worn by everyone?????????????????????????????????
Oh God! Save us!

Two of my favorites. I own many denim miniskirts with or without pleats, front pockets, back pockets, belt loops, elastic waist, etc. Some are very short in length. Matching panty to preserve a bit of modesty. What is this looking good? I wear short skirts for comfort. I'm not asking for anyone's approval. Some people don't even think that any man looks good in a skirt. I don't like women in ripped jeans either but that won't change the way that the world rotates. If you don't like my legs, just don't look. I don't get too many wolf whistles but then again a compliment is always appreciated. :D

Although denim may be boring to some eyes, it is probably one of the most popular materials where the transitional male pants to skirts process is concerned, and shouldn't be dismissed entirely. It's also an ideally hard wearing material which I find is imperative when working out in the backyard.
My own more irritating pet hate is for shorts which are full length pants but six inches short. But many seem to like them, and enjoy having laden pockets slung around the calf relentlessly banging around the legs as they walk. Apparently it's a cool look, and I class it along with extreme stiletto shoes - i.e. probably uncomfortable but fashionable.
On the second point about miniskirts, I've seen both bad use and good use of them. If they feel OK to wear for some situations, and the old pins aren't too unsightly yet, then why not? There'll all too soon come a time in our lives when we have to gradually start covering bits of ourselves up in a more respectable way in the process of growing old gracefully. Let's be able to hold that day off for a while yet...if we want to. I find minis to be the most comfortable form of skirt when at home. I know we go on sometimes about the importance of genuine male skirt wearing being a public thing at this forum, and not just a closet thing, but our lives don't stop when we come through our front door and pull up the drawbridge on the world outside. As I work from home most of my waking hours are spent here, and a miniskirt is good for keeping cool.
I'm sure there's a sensible use for most types of skirts, and materials.

I couldn't agree more, Pete, but finding a mini with sensibly sized slash pockets for big male hands and bits for DIY is difficult. I cheated and took one to a seamstress who installed them for me.

True, Tom. The pockets are normally useless. My estate at Chandler Towers isn't large enough to swing a cat in so the house and shed are at my elbow for any diy requirements. But I find a bumbag, both ugly and practical, very handy for skirts which have poor storage when I venture out.

Wow, at first glance Pete, my tired old eyes tell me that the top of your head has been lopped off in your avatar picture. The color of my version of this site is a very pale blue which blends with the sky in your avatar. Woke me right up when I saw it. I know, I'm a bubble brain. :faint:

It is scary, I must say. But last time I checked in the mirror I looked reasonably complete but, sadly, still as ugly as sin :? .

At the Eastman Institute in London, where I served two years, one of the tutors there (according to a colleague) suffered from 'bungaloidism'....that is, he had nothing upstairs (above the eyebrows). Just a joke. really.

I've known a few strange folk at art college who were rather detached too.

I have got to use that! There is a no-hoper at work, called Bungalow Bill because there is nothing upstairs. I hadn't realised that he is a bungaloid. Pure class!

You can't be uglier than me Pete, my teeth were put in upside down a few months after birth. Someone painted a tiny mustache under my nose around age 11 and it's never been cut or trimmed OR grown any larger in the next 58 years. My teeth are so screwy folks think my Mom or Dad was a vampire or werewolf. I cut all my hair off one time about 15 years ago and everyone thought I was bald with light gray and light blond mixed fuzz, so I let it grow back out to my shoulders and left it that length ever since. :hide: :faint: :hide:

I have a front tooth missing at present awaiting a crown to be planted back in, which possibly makes this almost classically profiled face (Rigsby - 'Rising Damp') - yeah, right  - look like Animal from the Muppets :alien: . Luckily I have no important engagements in the pipeline. But my tongue keeps on journeying around this huge crater in my jaw like it's the Grand Canyon. Bound to get a chap down.
