Sorry to hear about your shed, it is awful losing stuff in a fire. :(
Hi Denimini, I have cleared up burned things before but nothing like this. The shed was full of all my Dad stuff. There were fuels, paints, oils etc. Also power tools in plastic boxes, wetsuits, paddle board .. a very long list. The lot was incinerated and the resulting black mush and filth was toxic. I cleared out all the metal, followed by heaps of mushy carbon. The structure came down next and the lot went in a skip from the bottom of the garden through house. It took 2 days. Sad times.
Did I wear a skirt, no. I wore a disposable suit and respirator. It was disgusting.

I'm building back better through. I landscaped our tiny garden so the steep slope between the patio and the shed is now a nice flat area which will soon be a lawn. I'm hoping to erect the new shed next week

Ah that is as opposed to the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
Did you buy any Rulex watches or Kalvin Clein clothes when you attended this event?

Hola Moon,

I guess I've been called out!

For a guy who lives quite publicly in skirts, I'm actually surprised some random member of the un-skirted mass hasn't pasted me on some social media (none that I know of anyway), but you are correct. I made several attempts to post pictures here at SC and ran into hassles every time, when it should be so simple. A couple of times I've sent a link from my or my wife's cell phone on the very rare occasions I have had my pictures taken. These are easy to do but because they can be reposted so easily at will, I've not put them in the Pics and Look section for fear that others might use the method to post pictures they expected to remain exclusive to SC. In other places, when fitting the thread, I've sent a pictures using the google cloud make a link option from my cell as it is so easy, and personally I'm 'out' there all the time anyway, so it does not matter to me. But caution to those who may be expecting privacy.

I've never understood the appeal of selfies; and as an photographer from an era when we still used film, I'm used to being behind the lenses. I had to go back a ways to find anything, but here are a couple of links 'out of the closet'! Sadly, they aren't 'out in the wild' settings -- I've been tempted to break my inhibitions a ask somebody to take a few at times, more to see if there are any interesting expressions in the crowd around, but I've never found the need or courage to ask strangers to 'focus' on me (MIS) for the same kind of reasons I have expressed about reluctance to start conversations about MIS as it seems a way of drawing attention to oneself in a manner that implies -- 'this is something weird', instead of ordinary.

Does anyone have a good idea of how we can get 'out in the wild' shots without creating a 'bad image' for MIS? I'd sure like to see a lot more pictures of us just going about our lives in public settings without drawing undue attention to it.

So Moon, here is a half-step out of the closet for you:

At home in Costa Rica; With the Electric UTV (Sign on the back says: "My EV gives me more smiles per mile"; and if you zoom in on the little sign in my hand that came off my recumbent bike, it says "Subvert the dominant paradigm"

I do not recall what folly gave rise the pose for the last one -- obviously too much time in skirts can lead to....!

I have the same problem, I am often out and about in public, in all situations, where it would be good for other members to see the lack of interest or attention one gets by a man wearing a mini skirt. It really relies on having a friend discretely taking a photo from a distance. The fact that we portray confidence and normality is one reason we don't draw attention so setting up a tripod, selfie stick or drone would in itself destroy the lack of reaction we were trying to illustrate. Moon is lucky having a supportive partner to record him out and about.

The only out and about photos I have managed to get was one by a friend using my mobile phone
http://www.skirtcafe.org/forums/downloa ... &mode=view
and another by a newpaper photographer.

PS: Good to see some of your pics, I know they were for Moon but I did look at them :)

Go to a site of natural beauty that others go to. Get someone to take a picture of the scenery with you in it. The focus would be on the surroundings, just showing you are there enjoying it. No mention of a skirt needed.

A bit of clarification information is needed here - -

Actually, this topic - Sightings "in the wild" - is about what/when WE SEE OTHER MIS in our daily adventures.
Pics of "Us" go in the 'Pics-n-Looks' section. This section is protected from random computer searches.
To protect our members privacy, only fully vetted members have access to 'Pics-n-Looks'.

Sightings "in the wild" = "Them"
Pics-n-Looks = "Us"

I hope this helps differentiate the appropriate topics and threads.

You look great! I wouldn't worry about others impressions in how you look it could be upsetting if it's not the expressions you hope for. Just be your authentic self and the rest will fall into place.

Gracias Elisabetta for the compliment. I am not worried in the least about my impressions on others in terms of my appearance -- I've never been a clothes horse, though I am trying to get the hang of blending or contrasting the top and bottom halves just cause it looks nice; but worry, I do not!

What I was and am fretful about is seeking attention (taking or asking other to take a picture of us {MIS} in public settings because that seems to imply--"look at me", and thus focusing on the 'abnormal' aspect of a man in a skirt. I'd love to find some way to get pictures of us MIS's just going about our daily routines while we are in public settings so other men might see the evidence that it is no big deal, the majority of people simple do not care, don't notice, or just take it in stride.

Also, as I mentioned in my postscript, and UA added for clarification -- this thread, "Sightings in the Wild" is about "them" (other guys, not SC members) to post sightings of others out there. The "Out and About" or the semi-closed Pics section is the place for our personal pictures.

I don't know how you and Moon got your shots with Carl, but even those did not have John & Jane Q Public in the background -- which is what I think we need more of on SC, if we could find a discreet means to accomplish it. Cheers, and good luck with moving forward on your medical procedures.

Today at a local event (running) I did see a man wearing a kilt (not running). He should be in his 50's and he looked really good. I don't have chatted with him because I was already chatting with a nice lady of the same age than me (and was in all honesty, more interrested by her than by him). I said that I rarely see any man wearing a kilt and also that I find he wear it very well, to what she agreed. We did continue to speak a few moments before she did see the friend/[family member] (don't know) she was waiting to finish the course and she followed her. I did chat with an elder woman afterwards before to come back home.

July 4th. turned out to be another day with excuses, or opportunities, for MIS. We were housesitting in HIllsboro, Oregon with their parade running directly in front of the house. A couple of chaps in the Scottish contingent in kilts, and another in what was clearly an 'ordinary' skirt that few could confuse with being a formal kilt.

Another chap was on a rig playing music, also skirted -- a very sensible choice given the hot-weather. Not great numbers, but something and a bit "brave" in the midst of all the rah rah military, police-type flag waving focus.

And, I spotted one more walking along a busy road while driving a couple days later -- more MIS in public this trip than I've seen in a long while.

I went for fish and chips tonight, and unexpectedly found a bloke there in a black utility kilt (I think) with a peek-a-boo tartan panel, and Scottish kilt hose. Fortunately I was in a khaki Amerikilt myself, so I was able to murmur "nice to see someone else properly dressed!"
