Denimini,
We get suitable temps. for that sort of attire here only on a half-dozen days per year. I see you're attracting a lot of attention from those girls in the aisle, there, so as you say, wearing that kind of a mini is no big deal.

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
Pdx, you are quite correct. There were loads of shots taken of the whole choir, but the only ones which made it onto the FB page had the ladies conveniently placed to obscure my lower half as much as possible. I doubt the casual observer would have spotted my tights. Note, also the carefully chosen camera angles of the other photos so that my lower half does not appear in them at all.
I wonder if this was of the BBC man's choosing or at the request of the choir members or committee.
I remember a post here a couple of years ago by a member who won some sort of award and had his picture taken for the local paper. He turned up for the photo in a plain kilt, but the picture was cropped for publication so the kilt did not appear.

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
Well, 2017 is upon us -- and I'll say nought about last year -- so I figured it was time to wear my third new Mouse Works skirt in public for the first time. This one isn't like the others which are all fairly long -- this one is a 17" radioactive-pink velvet near-mini
. This took some stones, even for me, but nobody really seemed to care or notice. Ryan outdid himself on this one.
Short skirts are a lot of fun, but one does have to pay attention to detail.

These will be forthcoming (1) when I can get a shot of it and (2) when I can get it out of the camera. There are also the other two, a long-ish fire-engine red and an ankle-length bluish-green one (which has a funny story attached to it already).

I always thought that one would need to wear bright pink to get noticed, but it seems even that is not a given.crfriend wrote:Well, 2017 is upon us -- and I'll say nought about last year -- so I figured it was time to wear my third new Mouse Works skirt in public for the first time. Yes, posture for one, although 17" is quite a modest length.crfriend wrote:Short skirts are a lot of fun, but one does have to pay attention to detail.

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
It depends on one's stature. 17" is quite short on somebody my height, and in trying to tame this particular skirt had to find some extremely short slips and that has given me more insight into how short it's safe for me to go, and 15" is realistically about the bare minimum I can get away with and retain any hopes of staying decent.denimini wrote:Yes, posture for one, although 17" is quite a modest length.
Problems multiply exponentially for me as length divides, and it looks like the entire endeavour would fail catastrophically at around the 14" mark -- that's less than 1/5th my height, so right off there are proportion problems. Shirts, tucked in, would show their tails below the hemline -- not particularly attractive -- and the skirt proper would appear shorter than it would wide and that's about where "belt" territory begins, and I am absolutely disinterested in that. 12" is straight out as that starts to expose the undercarriage. No, photographic proof will not be forthcoming.

Other folks clearly don't have those issues, but personal geometry wins in my case and dictates the upper bounds for a hemline.

Point taken. 17" is quite modest on my 170cm stature, worn on the hips. The Golf Punk mini in the previous posts is 14".crfriend wrote: Other folks clearly don't have those issues, but personal geometry wins in my case and dictates the upper bounds for a hemline.

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large
Yes, pics or shens...
Anyway, shortest I will wear is about 16"...
Firstly, thighs and hips are much larger on my body than most guys. Granted, some of that is excess weight, but a lot of it is bone and muscle. If I tension my muscles, there's not much in the way of jello action.
Secondly, at that point, it just doesn't feel comfortable, plus the proportions seem to get all wonky. So, I usually try for something in the 17-19" range. So, lower thigh to above-knee length. With OTK and thigh-high socks, it is more comfortable, and the proportions are a little less wonky, but it's still a little short.

Skirted since 2/2002, kilted 8/2002-8/2011, and dressed since 9/2013...

The short skirts are fun! 2016 has proved that to me.
The Ladies know this and are way ahead of us, as usual!
Does it always have to rely on a picture, if so, tell me why?
Selfies, timed exposures, same thing more or less.
What do they tell?
I've done my share, so no judgement intended!
Have I offended anyone?
Wear when you can, be YOU!
Steve.

A picture, it is said, is worth a thousand words -- and that kernel of wisdom is especially apt in this arena.STEVIE wrote:Does it always have to rely on a picture, if so, tell me why?
I can blather on with mathematical expressions and descriptions of something, but if one actually gets a chance to see the concept in action the message usually sinks in faster.

He almost dared me to track my eyes to what he was wearing.
The unnerving gall to play the game who blinks first is the loser.
Well we showed him !
Hey stop that Oh Oh he put the hex on you caught you looking back !
The need for a candid rearview camera is the answer to this !

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !
