There's an online site called "The Woman Within" that has a very inexpensive selection of denim and twill straight and/or A-line skirts. They're selling them cheaply 'cause women just don't want skirts anymore. The site has at least a thousand different types of trousers for women and only about 8 types of skirts. (which they don't sell very many of) You can buy denim straight skirts there for as little as $6.88 each in nearly any size up to size 50. I wear a size 30 so it's a good place for me. I've bought at least 15 skirts there, mostly twill in white, blue, khaki, brown and black and a couple of denim skirts in blue and stone brushed light blue. They have deep side seam pockets on both sides and a deep narrow pocket for a comb or brush or whatever fits in there. Very well made by "Mainstreet Blues" clothing manufacturer. These skirts are very easy to cut and re-shape to the man's waist if you just have a modicum of skill with a sewing machine. Don't need much skill, as they have computerized sewing machines nowadays that do nearly everything (except turn the power on)for you. My machine even threads the needle without my help. :thewave:

Skip,
I have purchased several items from that site despite the fact, there is "no woman within" me anyway.

When items are first introduced, they charge full price and even the skirts can be expensive. Over time, they reduce the price to clear the warehouse for the next season. They do a lot of that and seemed to get stuck with a bunch of the denims and cords left over from last Fall. That's why they are so cheap. The new stuff for this Fall is just beginning to emerge -- it won't be nearly as cheap (at least not until Spring).

Right now they have some denim straight skirts in just one style for $6.88 each. I have plenty already so aren't buying any of them. I just looked it up for the people at our site, not for me.

Some other places to look for skirts besides WomanWithin dot com would be http://www.roamans.com and http://www.jessicalondon.com if you are interested. All of them are Lane Bryant companies.. Roamans has a skirt I still would like to have, but I just bought two cotton dresses from woman within to wear in the summer heat.

Along with me buying them, it seems that dresses are becoming more fashionable. Because in the printed catalogs for those three companies, I see more dresses than skirts.

Oh, I forgot to mention there is a master website called http://www.onestopplus.com that carries all the above stores' items as well as the other Lane Bryant companies such as Chadwicks. This is very useful in case you want an item from the Jessica London catalog and another from, say, the Roamans catalog but do not wish to pay shipping for each shop.
