Modoc answered my question (and that of Jamie) in a cogent and helpful fashion.

You just put up an image that was somewhat condescending, and didn’t answer Jamie’s question. It was a question, by the way. The question mark at the end of the sentence (by Jamie) was a clue.

Anyway, thanks, Modoc, for clarifying.

Yes, Jamie asked a question, one which shows his inadequate grasp of the statement made above his
question. His question indicated a lack of comprehension of the effects from 1988 until now.
I fully understood the rhetorical statement Modoc wrote, which Jamie did not - as evidenced by his question.

NOTHING HAS REALLY CHANGED since the 1988 Phil Donahue show aired.

If you want to see change, get out there and proudly wear your skirts/kilts for everyone to see :!:
Stop waiting for someone else to do it.
YOU take the first steps and be the change you want to see in the world :!:

What if he did simply not figure out what was referred to by "some kind of sign"? Actually, this is how I understood the question.

I think I missed the point of your response. Some kind of sign for what?
It is a valid question. There are many ways change can happen, which if any would work?
Nicola Sturgeon is no longer First Minister of Scotland or Leader of the Scottish National Party. Look what happen to Liz Truss. Sticking your neck out in politics is dangerous to your health. Politicians only take calculated risks when they know they will be supported. The main social focus in politics is ending the patriarchy. MIS can expect no help from our leaders.

Any man who is "waiting for a signal" that it's OK to don a skirt is going to have a wait that will dwarf what the SETI folks have already waited for theirs (which is arguably more important than fashion advice).

Face it guys -- it's not coming. Not this year, not next, not ever. Just man up and put your big-boy skirt on and head out to face the wilds. (And complete and utter rejection on the romance front.)

Many feel that wearing a skirt means they've lost their "man card".

Get out there and show other men that it's OK to wear a skirt - the sky will not fall upon them.

The problem is that most men believe that they need to maintain their Man Card, when in reality it is the biggest burden that they will ever carry. When will men realize this simple fact?

I put on my Big Girl Skirt because everyone knows that I bought it in the women's department. I look forward to the day when there is no more men's department and women's department, just clothing for everyone in all sizes, cuts, patterns, and colors.

I saw a woman this evening wearing a striking pair of trousers in a black and white pattern, and I thought to myself "I bet they don't make those in a men's cut".

That's fine if you regard yourself as a woman. If you're a guy the game is rather different. As far as complete degendering of clothing goes, that's not going to happen either in our lifetimes because there's no business present reason for it.

Jamie - Comments referring to 'Big Girl Skirt' is what got you placed on Moderated Status.

Carl's comment "put on your Big-Boy Skirt" is a quote from 50-60 years ago. (He changed Pants to Skirts.)
It simply means grow up and be an adult. The only "sign" you'll see is YOU
"putting your money where your mouth is" by going out in a skirt, showing the world that it's
OK for men to wear skirts and be a man - - not a woman wannabe.

Just because I wear skirts and dresses as a form of fashion DOES NOT mean I want to be a woman.
I wear skirts and dresses for freedom and comfort - no other reason.
(This holds true for about 90-95% of Skirt Cafe' members.)

But I think you missed that Jamie's comment referred to the "Big Girl's Blouse" idiom where he changed 'Blouse' to 'Skirt'

This Cafe is "The Sign" and the more you read of the cafe the more confidence you should have to walk out that front door and proclaim the sign of a man wearing a skirt. Also when you are out, take a picture and post on this site, showing others here, the image of a man in a skirt in a public place.

I would also love to see a picture of Jamie, is there one on the cafe? I know it is not possible for all members, but I think it is really good to take a picture of yourself, out in the world. We all get inspiration/courage from seeing others skirted out in the world.
