So, nutbastard, I think you may be a trifle optimistic saying, "after a couple of months it will become a non-issue and you won't even think about it." But don,t give up -- belonging to this forum helps a lot!

After a few drinks of couyalair or bordeaux, all the qualms and misgivings will be history, at least temporarily, cuz alcohol makes you loose focus.  I went pretty hardcore with my macabi skirt and payed a kebap diner a visit. Ali made a stupid face but the kebap was delicious. In the eye of the tiger you know if you are really into skirt wearing. It is not cheap but a skilled seamstress can alter the Elkommando Kilt. €30.00 are a good investment. :D

The key is looking the part. If your bearing is one of confidence and belonging in the scenario you are in at the moment, the odds are that you will be accepted. If you shy away, well, as they say, dogs can smell fear.

I wandered downstairs this evening to find Sapphire chatting with the contractor who has been doing some work on our domicile, and I happily engaged him and the conversation was fruitful -- and I was wearing a red lace spaghetti-strapped nightgown (my study is 90-odd degrees F because of all the computers and can get uncomfortable when it's humid). Not an eyelash was batted; it's all down to demeanour and bearing.

I've got a Macabi that I purpose-bought for sailing, and in that realm it performs exquisitely. They are also marketed to men, so that takes a little bit of the edge off. I know quite a few folks who have never seen me in trousers, which is a bit comical.

Or it could be your passing resemblance to Rasputin. :joker:

Scouse Skirt wrote:Went out for the first time in a skirt two weeks ago last Saturday, with a repeat performance again today. It's amazing how invisble I must seem to the vast majority of people. "Hello everyone man in a skirt here and you haven't even realised!"

I was out about half an hour at the shops this afternoon. First woman I walked past noticed and gave me what appeared to be a smile of approval.
I've been getting bolder (skirting, that is. I've been bold doing the thobes for a long time now) in recent weeks: first just going outside where (gasp!!) someone MIGHT. SEE. MEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!
Then it was to the gas station up the road to fill up the moped and get a bottle of pop. The "kid" (a 20-something young man) behind the counter said, "wow! I wish I could be brave enough to wear a skirt." I asked him what was stopping him. We got into a discussion of what styles, fabrics, etc. to wear and I told him to wear whatever he felt comfortable with.
Maybe one of these days I'll go to the mall skirted!

I would think a medium length denim skirt would be practical for gas station work.

I was stood at the front door seeing MOH off to work. I was wearing my shortish denim skirt. As she got in the car she said that one day I would forget that I was wearing it [ the skirt ]. The implication being that I would come out in the street in it in broad daylight. I said nowt. Little does she know but I have been doing just that for ages!
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

Those are the easiest.
Try her with a nice flowing dress!
I assume you work from home though.

He he! I am still unable to wear skirts around the house so much kudos to you!

I do occasionally though take the rubbish bins out whilst wearing a mid-thigh khaki cargo skirt whenever MOH goes off to work earlier than me.
