Macabi skirt sizing

I own a Macabi, and am well aware of the material and fastening options. But swimming in one would be like swimming in a feedsack. I suspect that a bout with rough surf would leave my loins very much ungirded!

While that may be theoretically possible, the Macabi is a good skirt but the various "adjustments" to it all make it look (and feel) rather strange. The wading snaps, for instance, are fine for a moment or two crossing a shallow stream but I doubt I will ever use them for anything more than that.

As for swimming in it, the loin cloth arrangement looks more like a baby's nappy (diaper for the west of the Atlantic types) and would have horrible drag in the water.
