Well - that was better than you had expected - OK it's not actually wearing one whilst she is there but it is a step closer where you confirmed that you do occasionally wear one. That will be the next challenge, though from the short conversation you did have, it seems as though that step will not be met aggressively. 8)

Hope all goes well and that you have a positive report when that happens. :D

I think Tackleberry's experience shows what many of us go through, imagining that our friends and family will think far worse of us if they see us in a skirt than what can actually happen. If our behaviour is the same as usual (just as normal/manly --what you will), why should they think ill of us?
If we speak about wearing a skirt, this might conjure up pictures of drag-queens, transvestites, effeminate manners, whereas if we are seen in a skirt and interact no differently than we would dressed any other way, what reproach can be made?

Persoanlly, I've turned up skirted/kilted at various meetings and events, and some people have expressed surprise, and that's that. I'm sure that if I'd asked the same people what they thought of men wearing skirts, they'd have been quite horrified. Seeing is believing.

Mum's can be like that. You've known her all your life, but she can still pull surprises out of the bag :D

My own mum found out when she went on holiday with us to Croatia a number of years ago. I spent ages wondering whether or not I should tell her or just leave all the kilts etc at home. In the event, I told her I would be wearing a kilt to fly in the night before we travelled. I'm not entirely sure she registered but the next day she looked at Carole and at me and made some comment to the effect that she was glad my son was going with us as she would not want to be the only one in trousers. And that was that. No problem, no fuss, no questions or histrionics; what on earth had I been sweating blood over?

Anyway, it sounds like you've got that sorted now so just get on with enjoying your own clothing choices with one less thing to worry about.

Have fun,

Ian.

I dont know what I was worrying about to be honest....
She did say that whenever my dad or brother come round to get changed or that I dont wear them at work (just/from work depending on time of day) but interestingly didnt say I couldnt go out in one ;-)

Job done. But what puzzles me is why she was tidying your car in the first place! Was it too cluttered for her to get in the passenger seat, or is she just one those people who like cleaning? Last thing my Mum would do is clean my car out for me.
Keep on skirting,

Woo-hoo! :thumright: :thumright: :thumright: Great stuff! 8)

I just wish MOH would have the same consideration . My own mother passed away some 11 years ago, which would be about 4 years before I even tried a kilt so I'm not sure how she would have reacted. A kilt would have been fine I'm sure but skirts.. She was a forthright woman with definite opinions on everything but my gut feeling is that she would have accepted it.

So if I park my car outside her place...? (See'd find a number of skirts in mine too :) )

Ian, Is this your holiday weekend name or is an early onset of dyslexia?

And Tackleberry, your mum would find several skirts in my car as well! Just for driving and shopping trips... :)

Sadly it's not early onset :( (Fortunately it's only my fingers that have developed dyslexia :) )
