Re: What happened to ...
Nope,
I was a chronic lurker and occasional poster back then.
The closest I came to it was a bus trip sponsored by my wife's company about a couple of months off from the date.
I did get into the Met that day and saw their Men in Skirts exhibit. That was cool.

Re: What happened to ...
The question got asked before (back in 2011), but I think enough time has passed for the question to be raised again - whatever happened to Veletron / Nigel? I was reminded of this fellow skirter by the recent resurrection of the Stirling 2011 get-together thread.
Not only did I like a number of the outfits that he sported, I liked the way that he montaged (if that's a word) his fit pics.

He liked mountaineering and was a member of the Ochils club (ochils.com) there were pics of him and his partner, mostly of him in rather short skirts with black tights / heels. In their Gallery there were pictures from around 2006 to 2010 in their social section. Nigel Webber I believe.FranTastic444 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 13, 2025 2:54 pm The question got asked before (back in 2011), but I think enough time has passed for the question to be raised again - whatever happened to Veletron / Nigel? Thanks for the update, Ray. My guess is that NZFreestyler took the same route. I wish both of them well.
Re: What happened to ...
One of the disappointing things about skirt cafe, is the missing end to our members life story. The only thing we know is the last time a member logged onto the site and the contents of their last post.
I know there isn't a solution to this, I am just saying that it leaves many open ends to human stories we care about. It may be nice to have an area where members leaving can say goodbye and end their time on the site.
There could also be an area where members who have crossed to the other side, could tell their story and be welcomed back as female members of the site. I do not mean that the site should become another trans site, I just would like to continue the conversation with people that have we have been conversing with for longer. I have trans friends and their stories are fascinating and informative.
My own situation has moved from thinking that I needed to become a woman, to wear what I wanted, to realising that if I have enough "Just Do It", I can retain the world of being a man and all the benefits that entails, while at the same time, taking whatever I like from the world of women. This site and some of the more out there members, such as NZFreestyler, Jeff and others, greatly helped me to get to the great place I am now. I currently think I have the best of both worlds and see no reason to get top or bottom work done, since I think my body is great with the things it can do. I think seeing my younger brother waste away with MND/ALS, has made me realise that the fact that every thing still works at 61, are reasons to celebrate and carry on the MIS party for as long as it runs. I like to think that my picture area will show others, that there is a way to work and play in the skirts and other clothes that your heart desires, while remaining a man, if that is what you want to do.

Daily, a happy man in a skirt...

Re: What happened to ...
We have had some members that were known to have died, at first I thought Mouse's comment " have crossed to the other side," may have been a euphemism for such a fate .............. until I read on.
We have some members who subsequently identified as other than male, " have crossed to the other side".
We have some members who have given up wearing skirts because their partners, whom they remain loyal to, have not adjusted to the choice of clothing.
I guess that some members have mastered skirt wearing to an extent that it is not longer a challenge or novelty and do not have to motivation to post here anymore. I do believe that many in that situation continue to stay around to support those starting off which is greatly valued.
Some members have had a disagreement, spat the dummy and flounced off.

Re: What happened to ...
This is definitely something that has happened to me over time. I've sort of settled into a comfortable spot - and only when I need extra encouragement or want to show off something I sewed (where else would I?) do I find the need to post. I'm also super busy at the moment and that often curtails posting.

Re: What happened to ...
I have been here since 2009 and have seen lots of changes, it's nice to find a "traditional" site with that early 2000s feel!
Lots have come and gone, some lurk, some return to kilts like I have. It can be good seeing some get out there and the site has helped them find more modern, accessible platforms like Reddit or Instagram where they can share their experience of unbifurcated clothing.
I remember Veletron's similar site IMFF, good to see she still likes her mountaineering and that takes up her time.
Many are just super busy and life takes over. I see Kev (eightofnine) on other sites now. It's good to pop in and see how everyone is doing but I find myself posting the same similar comments which may start to feel disingenuous so I'll just watch from the sidelines..
