Re: Running skirts: Ever try them? They are super comfortabl
This is an old post but thought I would wright a comment. I have just purchased a running skirt from runningskirt.com. I had no dramas with the SA and she come accross very understanding in regards to me wanting to wear a running skirt. I recon, exposure will help make these skirt popular for men. If more of us wore them and more people started to report on men wearing them then it may catch on. I mean, If "planking" and other stupid activities catch on why not guys running in running skirts. When looking at article about the running skirt, the idea for women in skirts has come under, surprisingly, a lot of criticism (mainly from feminist who want to remove gender from runnning so they are not sexualised). But the owners of this company have done a incredible job at marketing that they have developed a culture amoung runners and marathons. We are not expecting the same coverage but it would be good if it was more acceptable and a "non event" seeing guys wearing skirts. I quess if more high profile male runners adopted it as part of their regular running clothes then it could catch on. I would love to go running down the beach in a skirt and people say "oh thats just normal now, lots of guys prefer to wear the skirt".

The feminists who are trying to remove gender from sport by making everyone wear shorts are actually simply underlining the gender-specificity of the clothing. If they're truly striving for equality, I think they're barking up the wrong tree...

So true, Unfortunately with all of these movement like feminism, it always double standards. Women can wear whatever they like but men......well, we know the rest.

Amusingly enough, my most vociferous critic (in terms of skirt wearing, anyway) is a friend's 13-year-old daughter. I have had many long conversations with her about her right to wear trousers (which she does often): we agree that she has every right to wear whatever she likes. She's still entirely not OK, however, with my right to wear whatever I like. We get on well, and enjoy these sparring matches and have, thus far, agreed to disagree.
As she matures, I am confident that she'll realise that equality has to flow both ways, otherwise it's just empty words.
Paul.

I have been wearing black compression short and a simple black swim suit coverup skirt. Not sure where I got the cover up, but it had to be someplace that sells 3XL women's swimwear. Works great for walking the trails in the 100F / 38C temperatures we have been having here in Texas.
