Fall Fashion

Discussion of fashion elements and looks that are traditionally considered somewhat "femme" but are presented in a masculine context. This is NOT about transvestism or crossdressing.

Guys,
We are *tame* compared what this guy is putting out there for fashion, not even in the same space. Frankly, too flashy for my apparently conservative point of view!

Also, what about those models that looked drug addled to the extreme!!!!
You really think they only look like....????
At least they're starved to death. :?

To me they're looking more like garment hangers (which in the way they are... walking hangers for presentation). Our youngsters are looking this and taking as a ideal figures. I've heard yesterday that even 12 years old girls are on the diet, although I don't think they really need it. For sure is not healthy for young bodies.

The term, if I recall correctly, is "heroin chic", and is characterised by a completely vacant facial expression combined with excessive thinness. It's a look that does not in any way represent either good health or anything resembling a healthy lifestyle. That it's become the "ideal" body type is truly disturbing.

This has been brought up before, and supposedly the designers don't want anything to distract the audience from the garments on display. I'll posit, however, that by using such models they're doing more damage than good because the models themselves look -- in my opinion -- positively hideous, and that detracts from the overall look.

Why not just show good-looking clothes on healthy-looking models. Oh, and a smile goes a long way in making things look good.

A smile, or a rather sad, but "beautiful" expression like Mana-sama. of elegant gothic lolita fame.

He may look strange but I have yet to anyone, but the most jealous refer to him as "ugly" or "freak".

I don't understand their logic that they don't want the model detracting from the clothes. If done right the model can add more to the clothes. If someone modeling looks like they are happy, or content I personally think that will make people want to wear that garment. If a guy in a skirt looks down trodden while walking down the cat walk, who the heck is gonna want to look like that.

Instead of using undetracting models, they could use "shop window dolls" to show garment. The person is a part of the dress or even better the dress is a part of the person, right?
And when using the term person I mean the look, movement AND the personality!

Absolutely! Ideally the garment should complement and enhance the wearer and the wearer's personality. There's a reason why, when we're feeling low, we tend to dress in one way and when we're happy we dress in others -- it's a direct reflection of our mood and attitude -- and very often we do so subconciously. Bringing that notion out into the conscious realm can make for a very powerful tool.

I have noticed that when I am blue I have a tendency to just go blue jeans and t-shirt. When I am lively and creative...wild styles, and when content, usually just leggings and good shirts or sweaters.

Lately I have just been in jeans. Gee, I wonder what my mood is?
