Last week I learned elsewhere that the "Esc" key will freeze moving smileys on that page for that viewing. While I love smileys (they are in keeping with my personality, I also have stickers on my vacuum cleaner) the larger animations can sometimes be distracting when I want to focus on the words so I find that escape button handy on a case by case basis.
