I'll carry a bag if I must, but much prefer pockets. That's why I like Utilikilts and similar cargo/utility kilts. With everything in pockets that are attached to me, I feel my items are more secure and less likely to be stolen or accidentally left behind somewhere. That's one reason why I'll rarely wear a sarong out much farther than around the yard or to the neighbors - tho if I do have to carry things while in a sarong, I'll wear a small bag attached around my waist (often called "fanny packs" - though I dislike that term, and find it to be inaccurate as well, since I wear the bag in FRONT, as do most other people, and not on my "fanny").

In England we call them "bum bags" which is just as inaccurate. I believe, but could be wrong here, that they were called bum bags because they were originally worn on the back when cycling, where they are just above the bum, and just re-used on the opposite side of the body when walking.

Yeah, I guess that makes sense. Wouldn't want to wear it behind like that while walking tho - never mind that it would look silly, it would be an invitation to theft.

Do men wear bags?

Yeah, carrying stuff in pockets can be super convenient, but when I’ve got more to lug around or need to keep things organized, a small bag just makes sense. I wasn’t a fan of traditional ""fanny packs"" either, but recently I picked up a sleek belt bag that looks pretty modern, and I wear it crossbody most of the time. It’s handy for carrying essentials without feeling bulky or awkward.

Yes, I currently have a number of bags. A large shoulder bag which carries all of my computers and other stuff to do my work, a lighter shoulder bag for a single computer for pure programming days. I then have three hand bags which have shoulder straps, which I use for non working trips to carry wallet, phone , keys and other stuff required for life. The only difference between the there is colour.

Yes. But it did take some encouragement from this site to help set me right! A bloody nuisance moving from one bag to another for color coordination--but lack of pockets, small pockets, and impacts upon fit and comfort do call for a 'purse'.

I find over the shoulder best as I'm less likely to set something down and walk away.

I do have a large "wallet" sized purse that can be stuffed with most of my essential items -- on a long strap so easily worn and accessed, but not so commodious or tidy as a purse, so when there are NO pockets for anything (warm weather = no coat/pockets either), then I grab the purse. It has become comfortable after time; and I've developed a technique for "walleting" inside the purse so transfers are less burdensome.

I was surprised, but I get almost as many comments on my purse, as I do on my skirts -- I think people sometimes find that an easier way to "break the ice" to converse with a man in a skirt.

I am Gen X but often wear skinny bottom with loose over-tops like a Millennial. So, I have been won over by the idea of not stuffing my pockets. I found a "fanny pack" with a nice square shape and I wear it as a sling, over one shoulder. It is so convenient to have everything I need kept in one place so all I have to do is grab it and go. It also works better for my plus-sized phone. It also comes in handy because some of my skirts do not have pockets.

Now that I don't wear trousers anymore but wear dresses instead I HAVE to carry a purse. I am able to put a much bigger wallet than a man's one in it, along with keys, pen and paper, comb, lipstick, and a small torch (flashlight). One time my dear departed wife wanted to borrow a compact (small case with mirror, face powder, and pad) from me and was a little peeved when I told her I don't carry that around or even own one.

I carry a shoulder bag. My skirts usually have pockets but not big enough for my wallet or phone and usually just for easy access of keys.

I have noticed that a lot more men are carryng bags/purses of one kind or another. Men who aren't wearing skirts or dresses are finding the extra storage convenient.

Even pants pockets can not hold much these days ............ so I am told.

I've been carrying a bag for years now when I need to.

I recall one hilarious incident down at my local pub when one of the wags decided to call my laptop-bag a "murse", and I gently corrected him on the matter -- and he pressed it by repeating the comment. At which, I retorted, "No. That is my laptop-bag. This is my purse." -- and plopped the sequinned clutch I was carrying that evening on the bar. He never lived it down. His pals had a field-day with him -- especially after I produced the laptop computer I was carrying.

This reminded me off my teens in the early new mellenium. The denim fabric was supposed to get worn in around your daily items in your pocket, wallet, keys, hip-flask, phone and cigarettes/snuff for the users of that. No hiding where you were keeping what.
