Vivienne Westwood has her Fall and Winter Fashion for men on line.

Not much in the line of skirts for men, but there are about 4 in the collection. As always, most of the designs are not something most of us would wear, but a couple deserve a look.

The outfit I liked best was a tan leather coat with a most unusual predominately brown skirt/kilt. The red shoe laces didn't do a thing for me though.

i get frustrated with sites like westwood's. they think that they are somehow "entertaining" people by having their page and photos load up in some unusual and (usually) SLOW manner.

i (and i suspect %90-some of the rest of their traffic) went there to see pictures of their next line, and had to wait while the site "artfully" inserted the pictures one at a time in some pseudo-random pattern.

PFAHH!!!!

post the pictures up there. expediently. if i want slow and artsy, i'll go to a museum.

I'm sure these so call "fashions for men" in a skirt are just put in as a shock/horror
design and not really to be taken seriously. If only they would push it forwards I sure once the fashion guru's started wearing them the rest would follow.

Aye it would not have anything to do with Halloween would it ?
The timing could not be more perfect.
And the bizzare fashion if you can call it that.

Thanks for the warning about the load "speed" of the Westwood site. Although intrigued by the comments, I have to pass on looking at it.

Now, just for giggles and grins, the next time you go by a magazie rack, thumb through a copy of the September 2009 "InStyle" magazine.

About 50-80 pages into the fashion tome is a two page spread for Juicy Couture. The left side of the ad shows a young blonde male/female couple. He: shirtless wearing a kilt and Juicy Couture knee socks, with a bathrobelike garment over his shoulder. She: in a tiered, multipetticoated tutu, Juicy Couture tshirt, Michael Jackson-esque jacket, tartan leggings or tights, tan socks and high helled black boots with a wrap of some sort around her waist in a coordinating tartan.

The right side of the ad features a deliciously goth gown on one model and another model/ballerina/contortionist in pink tights with white stars.

Certainly wonderful for its entertainment value.

The site has a couple of skirts/kilts (not sure which) that I feel
would be a great addition to a gentleman's wardrobe. The Blue/White
plaid would be a great item Granted, not with the rest of
what the model was wearing-which tends to be towards the
outlandish. I would not wear the knee/thigh high boots with
it. I would use my over-the-calf black support hose. The skirt/kilt
comes to knee length, or slightly above the knee. Ideal for
proper movement and modesty. I could see a solid black/blue/red
shirt going with this skirt/kilt. It could be made into a casual to
semi formal outfit with no problem.

Now, if I could find a store in the U.S. which would carry this item
I would purchase one

That site was useless to me. One picture of an old lady, a naked man and a young woman in a black raincoat, and a big sign BROADBAND MODEM that you have to click to get in. I already have broadband so I guess that kept me from seeing any other fashions, if that's what you call them.

There are 5 pages of photos. As you move your mouse/pointer
over each pic, it will get a bit larger. Then if you want to see
the full picture, click on it and it will show in the large frame to
the right of the thumbnail pics.

A short kilt (less than 23-24 inch hem) can be ordered from most kilt makers.
If that proves a bit expensive; custom orders generally are, then order the
standard kilt (or kilted skirt) with the tartan pattern that you like and take it to a
tailor/seamstress and shorten it to where you want. You could do this yourself if
you have and are familiar with a serger sewing machine. The hem line on kilts is
selvaged - that is rewoven back into the fabric (hem) edge to prevent unraveling from
wear and tear. Just simply cutting the hem and not finishing the edge is a disaster
waiting to happen. Unlike pant cuffs which can be sewen and then pressed flat with
the kilt or kilted skirt this can not be done because of the pleats which would result
in the ugly bunching of the hem edge.
As a rule 23-24 inch is the hem of most standard kilts - - - a conversation starter...
Less than 19 inch and modesty becomes a concern - - - just beginning to have fun...
10-14 inch and good golly you have to be careful every which way - - - shock & awe!!!
