john in a skirt
hi, i am John, a 56 year old man. i would love to go out in a skirt but i aint got the bottle to do it. I'm married and wear my wife's skirt when she's out. She doesnt know. She knows that i like to wear lingerie but doesnt approve. This intro makes me sound really pathetic. Hopefully I will learn things here and perhaps contribute. I've started to read the posts and find them fascinating.
Well, hello to everyone.

much open minded here, and willing to encourage you with
your skirting/kilting efforts.

Hi, John, and welcome aboard. Your post doesn't make you sound pathetic, it sounds like the voice of someone who is curious, confused, and unsure -- all at the same time. However, given time -- and in the case of your wife, luck -- some of those issues can be solved. Feel free to ask questions; we're a supportive lot, or at least we try to be.

Hi John and welcome to the Cafe. It's always good to hear of another skirted man from Blighty.
As the others have already said, feel free to ask what you will. Mostly the folks here are friendly and you can be certain that there are others here who have gone through what you are currently going through and also some who have not yet dared to ask but would who would be glad to read the answers to your questions. So ask away and don't feel shy about it.
Have fun,
Ian.

John, we are all here to support you!
I was very much an "in the house" skirter for a couple of decades until I discovered the forerunner to this site in 2004. By 2005 I was an "out of the house" nighttime skirter and by early 2006 an all the time everywhere skirter. SOOO happy I tried it. Only feel unhappy when I think of all those years I was afraid to try it outside. I like the so called "masculine" bloke in a skirt look. I use certain accoutrements that make skirt wearing easier and more comfortable, like slips with certain rough materials. I don't shave anywhere but my face, don't paint my nails, don't actually do anything that might make anyone else think of me as a "pretend woman", CD, TV or TG. Just an old bloke in a skirt. Had a blast in July of 2006 at the World Series Of Poker in Las Vegas. Was there for 2 weeks, played in 2 events, and wore skirts the entire time. Didn't even take a pair of trousers of any kind with me. Now I only own one pair for Jury duty here where I live in the Florida Keys where we have a picky judge that (I hope) gets booted off the bench at this years elections. SHE thinks trousers are for men and women should wear whatever they want to. VERY chauvenistic.

I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

Welcome John
I am also still an in-house skirter - my wife knows and is content for me me to wear sarongs, which I do wear out on occasion, but only to the beach and stuff. She is not happy with skirts, but for one reason only - she is concerned what others might think (or so she says)
One thing that is very important - to me at any rate - is that I like to keep it open with my wife - no secrets.

Welcome John. I too am in the UK. I have been wearing skirts since my teens. Going outside in a skirt is no big issue. Try it and you will find out yourself. Anyway all the best.

Hello nick, so how long is it since you started to wear a skirt. Do all your mates know you wear skirts. What was it like the first time you wear one in public. Sorry nick, lots of questions but i want to learn.

John, welcome to the Cafe! I'd agree with Gus that being open is important. She most likely can tell her skirt is being borrowed and your explanation is probably better than what she may be wondering. If nothing else, consider getting a skirt of your own rather than borrowing hers without permission.Gus wrote:One thing that is very important - to me at any rate - is that I like to keep it open with my wife - no secrets.
Re: john in a skirt
I will be buying my first 'real' skirt (I exclude sarongs and the like, of which I have plenty) of my own on Saturday. I am taking my wife along to help me choose.

Re: john in a skirt

I am 57 and married and I now wear kilts and skirts almost daily. My wife persuaded me when I was around 40 to get a kilt for Scottish Country dancing but I always saw it only as costume for a special event until I had a leg injury and was on crutches for a time almost six years ago, when I had no option than to wear the kilt to work. It was so well received by staff and customers that I continued wearing kilts regularly after my leg healed. Within the past couple of years I have progressed into non-traditional kilts, the box pleat camo print skirts from Midas, and denim skirts. Now it just comes natural to don a kilt or skirt in the morning. Lingerie, well if you like the feel of it, but don't want to get into cross dressing there are always men's kilt liners available from Anna Manning Porter of GBK Enterprises, search kilt liner on e-bay and most days you can find them, and many of the Midas skirts come complete with an inner polyester lining which is attached to the outer garment only at the waistband.
