Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.
When my brother was only five years old my parents sent him to one of those Catholic convent type schools where the nuns did some pretty nasty things to force him to use his right hand. I think it traumatized him for the rest of his life.

Left Handed!!
When it comes to eating and writing, almost everything else is a case of more convenient at the time.
I also use my left eye most of the time, unless there is something to see on my right, then I switch eyes.

Idem, I believe that i even wrote left at first, but was quickly converted.
A man is the same man in a pair of pants or a skirt. It is only the way people look at him that makes the difference.
I have finally done what I should have done right in the beginning - created a poll. That's the problem with being a newbie - I didn't even realize you could do that! (Isn't there a duhhh smiley somewhere?)

This is an interesting thesis of Gus', and it dovetails (somewhat) into my earlier query of musicality. Given the responses above, there seems to be a statistically significant percentage of "blokes in skirts" that are lefties; there was also a statistically significant percentage of "us" that pursue music. These are both traits that are interesting, and may shed some light on the psyche of the man who has the guts to "buck the trend" and wear 'alternative' garments. I wonder if the connections warrant further research.

Yet another left-hander, who plays a left handed 6 string guitar converted to right handed (not by me). I have always written with my right hand, I believe when I was young my grand parents said something to me and I started trying to 'be' right handed, so now I can't write with my left hand and my writing with my right hand is predictably poor. It's made me sort of ambidextrous but hasn't helped my typing or spelling much!
I am the God of Hellfire! and I bring you truffles!
I voted as both a lefty myself and also representationally for my lefty Quiet Man. Left handed men are wired in a nicely different way to begin with but I think also as a lefty have spent time repurposing items and how they are used. Adjusting a garment sold for women to their needs isn't as big of a leap as it is for the average right handed man.
What-s-a-matter-you-no-can-button things on a reverse button placket or zip things when the flap
covers the zipper on your right. Or what about the left side zipper or the rear for that matter.
It is not all that hard just takes a bit of practice or should I make that perfect practice. Really the
obstacles we face in getting dressed (OMG I used that word!). What about wearing the kilt with
3 straps/belt and buckles. For right handed people the two on the right are a cinch - the last one
on the left side can be ackward at times. Wearing clothing the designers made for women can be
a daunting job. The fair sex are a great deal more agile fastening things that are encumbering
to the opposite sex. This only because they have had to put up with this fashion trend from day one!
It is pretty neat the way some clothing uses a hidden (seam) zipper to create a smooth uncluttered
appearance. How did you get that on with no apparent elastic stretchiness? We are not at that stage
where robots are putting our clothes on for us. But look out for that day "HELP HOW DO I GET UNDRESSED"!

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

This is correct. At least a 60% majority of our Presidents have been left-handed and 4 of the last 6 have been lefties. Most write uphill, the brighter ones do not. All lefties start off writing uphill or by completely wrapping their arm around the page. I couldn't do the latter, kept falling asleep as my head would drop on my arm, took the time to teach myself to write by moving the heel of my hand across the page to give the look of my writing some semblence of normalcy. Two phrases I like are: 1. All lefties use their right (correct) brain and all righties use something else. 2. All righties use their left brain and all lefties use their entire brain. hehe...I also like the phrase bald men like, even though I'm not bald: "GOD made only so many perfect people and the rest got hairy heads"..

I have an expensive 70 year old Gibson acoustic I bought as a child at Ace Music in Miami Fl. I immediately reversed the frets and carved out the string slots for reverse use. Today, IF I'd never "messed up" my Gibson it would be worth over $1,000...Oh well, que sera sera..I did have a lot of fun with that guitar tho, got arrested for creating mob scenes on Fort Lauderdale beach by starting hootenannies on the sand. Was well worth the $25 fines.
I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

I always chuckle that at 82 my otherwise un-agile father-in-law with Parkinson's can effortlessly button either shirt cuff while at almost 50 years younger I take the few button shirts off to do my cuffs. It is indeed all what you are accustomed to.
Right handed but, my leading eye is my left eye. Has anyone seen gunstocks made by the bespoke gunmakers of Europe made so the barrels fell naturally to the left eye, even though the stock is planted firmly on to the right shoulder? Does that make me a borderline lefty? I am just, at 60, taking up the acoustic guitar--now THAT should get both hemispheres of the brain communicating!
