Tights

Post by Col »

Responding to Gregg1100 question about Silkies.

I have tried various brands through the years, mostly to M&S Opaques. However, since trying Silkies Opaque, they have become my favourites. They are the most comfortable & best feeling tights I've found.

They are most like M&S Everyday Opaque 60 denier, if you want a comparison, but are better than these (IMO).

I have heard however that they are a bit zealous about pursuing payments if you miss sending a cheque on time (they were on the Watchdog site of the BBC), but I have been purchasing from them for about 2-3 years now with no problems. The Co is based in Liverpool (for the UK company) & you can pay by cheque, debit or credit card.

Cheers

I wear hosiery the most of the time ( because i'm involved in a lot of group proj and I have to look smart) and in the winter time... I just buy the stuff from a online store Hosieria where they have from Levee (I think) unisex tights...They look okay and my b/f was pleased when I bought a pair for him. And as I saw they have tights for men too...don't remember the name!...
I personally love JOOP! tights. I have a lot of shapes and colours...I think they will last a life :) I can recommend this store hardly... I never had problems with them...and they have a return policy too so if something goes wrong you cand return them:cheer:
:)Be happy:)

Thats interesting RedRed. I have never worn tights under my kilts before but find that in the really cold weather here its just my knees that tend to get cold. I sometimes thoughjt about something like flesh coloured tights or I think its hold ups, that wouldnt show much but would keep me warm. Having said that its only in a chilly wind that its any problem. I also wear warmer underwear with it and of course Ive got my kilt hose on(knee length socks) but I will take a look at the we site for Hoseria gain.

Hi Red Red,

thanks for the female perspective:clap: Can I ask you, what particular tights did you buy for your BF? As a female, I get the impression that you're quite relaxed about your partner wearing tights (which I think is pretty good), but do you have any F friends who don't share your enthusiasm, and if so, what are their thoughts on this?
As a female, do you think that males wearing Tights is a thing that most women would accept and would like to see more of?
Men like to see a good set of female pins encased in hoisery.....But would that work from the flip perspective?
Again, your thoughts are appreciated! Thanks again!

I am very relaxed when it comes my B/F to wear tights... And I'll maybe surprise you or not but he's buying himself hosery... Usually he buys unisex tights because sometimes I wear them too...but he's not wearing them all the time...just when the weather gets colder, but it's still okay for me!
Most of the girls I know are used with men wearing hosiery...don't know why because they are not so many(the guys who wear hose), but still they accept the ideea, and have no problems with this! On the other part there are a lot of people living with the ideea that to wear tights it's very "gay"! I, personally don't understand them! :eh: No matter the reason why people wear hose (ANY kind), and no matter if we like it or not, I think we shouldn't judge them! we are all humans and we should respect each other and we should respect others opinions and way of living!... I don't know if it's much more to say! This is how I think, and this is the way I live!!!
:cheer: It's a nice sunny day!
:) because it's not a feeling! it's a way of living!

Forty years ago, it was not unusual for blokes (particularly policemen, council workers, etc.), who worked outside in all weathers, to wear tights (which were relatively new in those days) under tr*users during cold snaps. They didn't as much buy them, but 'borrowed' them from wives/girlfriends! Certainly, there was little or no stigma attached, unless you count wearin' 'hand-me-downs'!

2 million dancers on the planet wear tights as a regular work uniform. Does this make them "gay"? I think not. Just another choice for modestly covering and protecting the body and protuberances. No big deal except in the mind of stultified, stiff minded non-individual, inhumane humans. :naughty:
I had to remove this signature as it was being used on Twitter. This is my OPINION, you NEEDN'T AGREE.

Hi all,
My Dad used to wear my Mum's tights when playing golf early on Winter mornings. He wasn't too thrilled when Mum let that one slip out!
(Note: this was 30+ years ago)

All best wishes,

I’ve worn tights since the early 80’s. Most of the time, in the winter, I’ll wear them to bed with a T-shirt. I’ve found that tights under a long wool skirt and my wool WWII long German officer’s coat keep me warmer then anything else. Of course, those of you who know me know that I don’t wear tights that don’t have a pouch sewn into them. My wife does that for me and has gotten quite good at it. She made herself patterns so it makes the job go a lot quicker. One of the brands I like is called Merona, purchased at Target. They are VERY thick but stretchy. I wear them with my kilts also but in the summer its way too hot to be wearing them with anything else. What I like about tights is not only the feel and the fact that they have feet in them so they don’t pull up like long underwear but I’m covered all the time no matter how I sit, bend or how much wind there is.

I wear thick opaque black tight under my cycle shorts on winter evenings.
It feels great, looks good and keeps me warm on long rides.

Sometimes I wear cycle trousers over the top, depends how cold.

When I was serving my apprenticeship, we used to work in very cold buildings full of machinery. I once mentioned to a fitter friend of mine about wearing tights to work to keep warm.
The next day I asked him if he was wearing tights.
His answer was.
" I tried to, but as I pulled them over my knees I got a stiffy, and my wife made me take them off" :)

These days, I work in a very warm building. No excuses any more :(

My Favourite pair are by Aristoc, these are permanently borrowed from my wife, but usually I buy from Tesco or Asda. I buy the thickest and blackest they have.
Dirt cheap but they do the job nicely. Don't buy the cheap end though, they don't last.

:cheer: I have been wearing tights and pantyhose for over thirty years, long before I started wearing skirts and kilts in public. That was under my work pants.I now and have worn tights and pantyhose depending on the weather with my skirts and kilt everywhere.I found years ago it it not an issue.I have even wore a dress(jumper) and no one seemed to notice,or care.I had on pantyhose with that dress at Lowes.Plenty of rednecks,no comments.
I do not need a reason to wear skirts, kilt, or even a dress, when I want.I do it because I want too.:)
